how about everyone, surely some will want to kill me for the title I put, but first of all I would like you to read this so that you understand what I mean. Enlisted is one of my favorite games, but when I reach the maximum level I feel like I have less fun. Some will say yes, it’s because there’s nothing left to progress on, but that’s not the case. What happens is that the game forces me to use certain weapons to win and be the best, when I just want to have a good time man… I hate the M2 carbine, I hate the FG 42, I hate the SGT. NOT because they are bad weapons, but because it makes me repetitive and uninffiliated (in the case of Berlin especially) The other day I was checking the forums, I stumbled upon the post of a user who decided to use in Berlin, the VG-5 along with a shotgun, and man… I decided to do the same, but adding the VG-2 to all the soldiers who could use rifles, as frankly having volkssturm soldiers with FG 42 II and assaults with Bereta M38 is one of the least immersive experiences in the game. I thought it would frustrate me, but boy… to my surprise I had fun again.
Running out of VG-5 bullets and feeling like you’re giving everything to survive with your latest shotgun bullets is a really enjoyable experience. The only bad thing, obviously, is that now I am in inferiority with respect to other more advanced players, but fucking, I got bored of getting frustrated by trying to win a game, after all a game is to have fun, and if using the weapons “meta” ruin my experience, I prefer not to use them. this would be all on my part, sorry if there is something misspelled, I am not an English user.
For me it gets really boring when the balance is so skewed, one side gets slaughtered so hard that i don’t even have leftovers to shoot at. Literally standing on the point for all game, and no one will come to take it.
Playing with high level guns is fun with some balanced teams, though with 3-4 maxed dudes on one side, most matches look like what i descibed above.
Game is fun, but when You can’t play it right it gets boring quick.
Well, you do not have to use those weapons. I still have a squad with the M44 for soviet allies even though the AVT-40 would be better. Using ross rifle instead of garand. etc. Just keep doing what brings you fun. In the end of the day that is what games should be.
About being steamrolled at times. Only way to do something about it is teaming up with friends really. Steamrolling yourself. Idk really that is matchmaking I gues.
Why VG 2 when you can use Kar98 though (but sure if youre using it as an assault BA). But i dont get it. If you want to be an assaulter you use smgs, shotguns or assault rifles or if you want to be an supporter you use Carbines, BAs depending on range and such so dont see the issue here.
An BA is way more reliable in support then ex Assault rifles
This is an indication that youre bored but also which worries me if they make progression way to fast. Then it leaves them to have to make more content faster to instead of focusing fixing the game that has flaws atm that rly needs to be fixed
it is simply appropriate to use the VG 2 in Berlin. I didn’t think much about it really, I just took the weapons that best fit the theme of the campaign. If I wanted to win I would just use full FG again
Fun is the most important aspect of the game. Heck, of ANY game for that matter!
I myself do the same. What is the game meta? Ppsh41, BAR, fg42II… but I use… bolt action rifles! I keep 1 meta squad in to face meta shitters if I meet them, but unless they’re present, I mostly use starter weapons nowadays… they are fun!
It must be why my favourite faction at the moment is now Italians… yup you read well: the weakest faction of the game at the moment, meta weapon wise (they just have none). The carcanos are so satisfying!
My advice - run two squads however the heck you want, even if it’s not optimal and then run one that is optimized. The point is to have fun. Only pull out the optimized squad when you feel like you have to. Hell, even if you lose it’s secondary to if you had fun playing - especially since you’re not worried about the grind anymore
The alternative is to buff everything until it’s all equally good in some way and that’s just not realistic and wouldn’t really solve the issue
I’m personally trying to maximize my squads that use BAs such as fully upgrading the weapons, giving all squadmates increased bolt action rate of fire perk, other health perks between regentation, healthpack restored, and rarely but possibly health boost.
So this way I can have fun using BAs but attempt to make them strong enough to compete. I would never do this with a squad with FG 42 or anything of the sorts, seems scummy.
Just ignore the meta man, use whatever gun you want to use, who cares what they say. Oh well if you aren’t using FG 42 II’s or M2 Carbines on every rifleman, what matters is that you’re contributing and having fun. (Just please don’t be that sniper that goes two points of sniping and only gets 5 kills)
