Enlisted Gun Classes dont feel right

Bolt Actions: Work well, but do feel like it gets replaced by the superior semi-auto rifles. I feel Utility classes should be able to pick up bolt actions (Again there is no reason to run infantry as they’re just the basic classes but can’t do X.

Radio = Infantry who can call in artillery
Bomber = Infantry but has a secondary that takes out tanks.
Engineer = Infantry but can build placements
Sniper = Infantry but can get a scope + regular rifle

Nothing makes infantry unique, you will generally only run it if you have 0 additional slots, they just “exist”. I would recommend possibly restricting semi-autos to specific classes. Infantry/Radio are two good picks as radio (gives you semi-auto) AND it’s one of those classes you dont pick unless it’s a radio squad.

Semi-auto Rifle: They feel fine, but I feel their range at which they one shot should be toned down. As the only soldiers that really run bolt actions (which are snipers), and assault (secondary weapon to pick off long range targets.)

SMG’s: Another gun that feels like it’s in a fine place, good at hipfire and close range. Sub-par at medium range, bad at long range.

Alright time for where gun balances goes out the door

LMG: SMG’s are great up close, can hipfire with their large capacity mags but not good afar. Semi-autos are good at afar but can only kill so many people hipfiring in rapid succession with missed shots… What if we made a gun that has the advantages of both with none of the downsides.

Less recoil than semi-auto rifles
Same damage as semi-auto’s
RoF comparable to SMG’s
Hipfire laser, even while moving
Hipfire laser x2 if standing still (i’ve just randomly hip sprayed at people a good 50m away and could prob land it in 1-3 bullets if they’re behind a beanbag.
Ironsighting while moving, short bursts even things like the MG42?

This becomes a big issue when entire squads can have the MG class like the FG-42 for the germans which to put in perspective if you compare it to

10 more bullets, same damage, less recoil, a bipod… the trade off 0.3 second more reload.

Yeah, a big issue is guns just start replacing each other. Bolt Action has limited use where the Geweher is better… and the FG-42 is just a straight up improvement across the board. M1/M2 Carbine just looks like the same thing, but slightly worst (no one shot, same RoF, 10 more bullets, more recoil than the FG-42.)

Also LMG’s fail at being at being an LMG because the mounted system is pretty busted, bipod weapons seem to get the same position as non mounted weapons, and half the time mounting your gun is way more restrictive.

considering that AIs and distance plays a major factor, i don’t think it’s the case.

despite i don’t deny that i have at least 2 semi automatic rifles in each squad, they cannot be replaced. ( i mean, they can. but it’s matter of opinion ). that’s why the grenade launcher gets even better and is still based as a bolt action.

truee, they can already do that partially, but they cannot use any other rifles outside the default one… which doesn’t make much sense. but nontheless, they should be able to use other rifles as well.

but on a second though, it’s not what they are designed for. like, why would you use a bolt action on a assaulters?

absolutly not. you weren’t present when semi automatic games has been taken out during the alpha becuse they needed around 3 to 4 shoots just to kill 1 soldiers.

and i do not want to go back all over again.
as it didn’t and doesn’t make sense.

semi automatic rifles are quite expencive. and considering rng, not everyone has them.

considering that you don’t get many machinegunners at all in the game outside the mg squad ( that can hold 3 machinegunners ) i guess it does somewhat sense. it’s not like assaulters that can be filled in any squad.

i’m fine with half of the points mentioned to be honest.

exept being able to spray accurately while aming and moving. that’s really off.

you should be able to do that only if you are stady. ( with current somewhat of a high recoil ), problem is, there’s a bonus that i saw that can be gaved to 5 star machinegunners, decrease vertical ( or, as you can chose one or the other ) horrizontal recoil if standing still. i don’t know, this one makes me feel a bit off.

pretty much, i don’t like it either. it does not provide a different gameplay. but only better.

again, debetable. with the g43 people cannot land shots accurately like the k98. and considering that stars and upgrades are a thing, g43 it’s not better as you think since it suffers from bullet deviation until upgraded to level 4.

i have mixed feelings about this. i wouldn’t call it straigh up improvement. although the ability to give it to everyone i guess it’s what makes it powerfull.

i somewhat agree for the ability to give classes bolt actions, mgs and fgs. but i’m totally against the nerf for semi automatic rifles.

Well, FG.42 should be only restricted to germn Patatroopers and maximum LMG ammount of squads should be 1-2. Case of G43 it just sways way too much if you compare it to k98 and considering G43 it was accurate weapon even moderate shooter cold dome people at range of 400 with ZF-4 scope!

I feel like semi-auto’s need a reduced range, not damage, like where it drops off from being a 1 hit kill to 2 hit kill. Normandy, very few maps really give you an engagement of 200m+. To give you an idea most Objectives are 150-200m range with a semi auto rifle if you could see someone from point A to B and get a body shot, you one shot them. If you walk out of the spawn, you again generally can one shot someone from spawn to objective with the semi-auto rifles. Since most engagements are around the 0-100m… and a 1 star Garand one shots from 0-98m, there is a real weird 2m that the bolt action would have a TTK, that is COMPLETELY REMOVED once you have a 4 star Garand (One shot’s from 196m away, with someone with a few 4 star Garands in my squads, bolt actions have become 100% pointless.)

i think a big issue IS you need the 15% damage upgrade because by than you’re dealing with people with 13.5 hp and not 10hp if they have 4/5 star characters. The game seems oddly balanced around that and again where the game becomes odd because the bolt actions dont perform enough to one shot people with that perk at 90m+

But LMG’s I’d be fine if they’re standing still. Because you could use your second life to grenade them and put them out of position to not fire back- but if you do that you’re going to get charged by a man who can fire an MG42, on the move, with laser accuracy.

I mean a big issue is comparing 4 star SMG, are worst than most base LMG’s, heck comparing a 4 star rifle to a base lmg is bad too (second range modifier is 9.6 damage at 300m means it one shots up to 288m where as a 4 star rifle one shots up to 188m… using the same caliber.

I feel a possible trick to make smgs/pistols a bit better is have low caliber be good in 10m than go down. Have high caliber damage do low damage at 0-10m (most likely less, but to give SMG a good engagement range), go straight up to 11-50m to be the one shot area than back down from 51-100m. A bullet that sticks inside you is more lethal than one that passes through. I feel this would balance guns and give SMG’s a place in the current battle field, other than to catch a bullet from a semi-auto at the person they shot at, dying instantly.

So if we look at the guns
A semi auto/lmg would do something like
9@ 0-10m (I’d say something like 5m)
12@ 11-50m
9@ 51-100m

Bolt actions could be unique with it always being an OHKO from 0-Xm (One shot one kill, but every other gun will kill you if you mess up)

SMG’s/Pistols could stay the same
