Especially inside buildings , which are indestructable. There should be no reason why artillery blows up barbed wire or sandbags inside buildings for any reason.
Outside its even worse. You can run to the second objective to prepare sandbags as cover and place lots of barbed wire and its wiped out in a single bomb strike or arty strike.
Engineer simply is not playable later in the game because of this unless you are in a massive building like A in monestary conquest.
EVERYONE has det packs. Det packs are what you use to destroy barbed wire and sandbags.
You can use PTRD to destroy sandbags at long range.
This needs to be nerfed or gotten rid of all together because you can spend minutes preparing awesome fortifications only to have it erased from some guy on the other side of the map pressing 7 on the objective
or a plane just dropping a bomb at random.
Fortifications being strong means that smoke cover is more important than ever to get close to objectives to destroy them. Right now all you have to do is press 7. And you dont even need to be in a radioman squad since everyone can put a radio man in their squad.
Stronger fortifications would make for much better gameplay meta. Right now they are completely worthless due to arty spam (which i dont have a problem with other than wiping out important time consuming fortifications)
Take an engineer go set up a rally point with defenses built around it, that will take you minutes of time.
Bomb one of t hose locations and it is gone, in seconds.
even if inside a building just throw a tnt stick at it, its gone.
Making the sandbags and barbwire more resistant to bombardment and explosives would increase the use for engineer squads. I stopped using mine as I found a lone engineer in my groups was way more effective then a full squad that I never used due to the OPs reasons.
Let me tell you a secret about the engineer squad. The AA turret is op against infantry.
Every mag you get 10 full auto shots with perfect accuracy that completely levels infantry, so crawl up near a point or somewhere with an overview over enemies and annihilate them faster than a 250 kg bomb.
Agreed, the engineer is a really fun class but the fortifications feel a bit meaningless at the moment. Such a cool feature to change the flow on the map but they don’t have much impact as they are gone almost immediately. A bit more health on sandbags and wire would be great.
