Engineer repairs vehicle

Let Engineers use the hammer and building materials to repair the tank(Or only allow repair transport vehicles on the battlefield).
I thought this idea was too OP, but if paired with the current repair mechanism, it might be more acceptable. It would encourage infantry and tanks to act together, adding a slight cooperative experience to the game.
On the other hand, no army will provide infantry with vehicle parts to repair friendly tanks

You can already equip repair tools on any of your infantry soldiers.
I have 1 or 2 in every squad.

The problem with tank / inf cooperation in Enlisted is not due to any shortage of support mechanics as you may have read all over the forums.

The issue is that poor game design choices have effectively removed any actual threat the tanks may have posed historically within the context of the game to mere nuisances, which are easily despatched in a myriad of ways by any infantry squad. Furthermore, dodgy implementation of weapon load outs and questionable choices in map design along with the core mechanic to capture objectives as the necessary means to win, ensures that all inf players are tunnel visioned on capturing said objectives and not looking to see whether a friendly tank needs a fix or even cover from flanking tank hunters.

respect.

But I think most players still won’t give up carrying two extra impact grenades or double ammo for 45 points
Just to get more people involved in the “cooperative” gameplay

I’m not surprised.
Firstly you need to find a tank that got damaged and didn’t blow up instantly. And after you fix it there is a high chance it will get blown up.

That’s assuming you can get to the actual fix site. Repairing the main gun requires you to stand on the hull at the front of the turret… I don’t like your chances of fixing this in any situation where the enemy can cover your with small arms fire.

It was hard enough bailing out one crew at a time under the last system and trying to desperately cower behind your tank to try and fix it. The fix time being longer was a reasonable compromise because at least you could fix the whole thing from cover.
The fact that I can repair something quicker now is almost irrelevant because even if I prioritise the engine/tracks, I still can’t reverse fast enough through the badly designed terrain to actually drive somewhere to fix it. There are a few maps where this is still possible but they are in the minority. In most cases you will be defeated in your attempt to withdraw by either the slope of terrain/broken tank track traction OR some random indestructible clutter that will cause your tank to hang on it.
Trying to do this under fire is an exercise in futility, so I suspect this is going to get to the point where certain tanks are not used at all whilst others get the grey zone treatment (maps permitting).
