In some theaters (Tunisia for example) making forced landing in damaged plane is like landing on ice.
Plane just glides on tunisian sand, barely losing speed. And after a whilke collides with something.
So please check and fix forced landing friction.

Well normally your not supposed to land and fix your plane. So y’know.
You can’t fix planes in-game, so landing is only done when the plane is too damaged to fly. Either way; when a plane lands in soft sand or snow or dirt it’s more likely to dig-in it’s landing gear and flip over than to roll for another kilometer or two.
Until they fix: Try killing the engine and hitting the brakes when you land, I’m pretty sure it helps slow you down. I’ve heard firing your guns slows you down too but I haven’t tested that.
3 solutions for you to try, as they usually work for me:
- Tilt one wing down upon landing, to go into a side slide. If you can get it to slide sideways, you usually will succeed.
- Land in water. You have to really slow your speed and make sure your tail touches first, but this usually guarantees some survivors.
- There is an option for “brakes”. These apply to your landing gear. Its NOT a MASSIVE change, but it has come in clutch for me.
Side notes:
- make sure your landing gear is down, this should go without saying, but here it is just in case.
- manually turn off your engines when trying to land. You seem to lose speed quicker as well as it makes you silent and harder to track if your attacker is still following you.

In Pacific you can, actually.
I cut engine, lower gear and set flaps to landing., and touch ground around 140-180 kmh.
Water landings dont earn you 100 points and as we alla know, leveling fighters every point counts.
Speacially in Pacific Japan, as US Bombers are to fast and lethal for Zero.
I get points every time I SUCCESSFULLY land in the water. As far as your speed, I’m USUALLY able to touch down at less than 100 kmh. Just have to find a stretch long enough to accommodate or go for the side slide.
I knew that was the exception. But it is weird that no other campaign has it.
