Effectiveness of the marker

When using the marker, how well does your bots react? Do they pick the thier targets faster? Does any one have tips on how to use the marker better?

i think the bots look in the direction of your markers. when i see a really big group i flash my marker a bunch to get peoples attention or for planes.

Same.

Also markers display a range for mortars, so if a sniper or machine gunner is being a problem, you can just pop out of cover, mark them, pop back in, and drop a mortar on them using the marker’s range finding.

I somewhat have my doubts about markers for bots, but today I watched one of my bots stare directly at someone mowing down the rest of my trench without firing a shot, while stranding behind the guy.

I would have to imagine that had I marked the guy, the bot would have taken fewer than 30 seconds to react.

its rare i target to be honest, and i dont see diferences when i do, but to be fair i dont pay that much atention to my bots . i got used to how bad they are so i dont expect nothing from them…

Players who don’t mark have no willingness to win games. There is a chasm of talent between players who mark and the rest that don’t. This is one of the major elementary mechanics of playing this game vs arcade FPS games

I’m a habitual targeter, I slap markers on every sign of enemy.

If I see footsteps on the floor above, I mark the ceiling.

okay.

I will flag tanks etc, in hope a plane will save us, but if my bots are looking at a wall i will mark, so at least there facing there death front on

sure, tanks i do mark, but i trully avoid spamming markers on the batlefield…

Marking tanks is really nice if not OP now that the marker follows the tank around.

Eh, it only lasts a few seconds, though. I wouldn’t consider it OP

It makes a lot of difference mid-long range for your bots if you even intend to play this way…

not worth the hassle but it does work

Not sure about the bots but it is super helpful for air support / tanks / arty and mortars. This way you can efficiently support your team instead of firing blindly when nobody bothers to mark targets. Most of the tanks you are nearly blind and if you know exactly where both enemy tanks are you can prepare in advance and deal with them. It is unlikely you are going to spot them sooner than infantry and when rounds start to ring your armor it is already too late to look around. Same with planes, I jumped into an attacker to deal with a tank that caused havoc in our ranks but meanwhile situation changed and there was nothing marked even as I asked several times through quick chat as that gets translated but still nothing. I think spotting should be rewarded similar way like assist. It is bad to see games where I’m the only one who marks targets.

I always try and oblige if , i see a request in chat, for a marker, if i haven’t already marked something, or if
it has disappeared after a min or two
Dose having too many markers at once delete the old markers etc something like that, just curious.

do bots mark when you request cordinates? seems when i fly and i ask sometimes it pops up instantly

lucky you but those were players

I mark very often, and I dont think it makes bots any more effective aiming compared to if they were looking in that direction normally.

Like, for bots it only helps to get them to look towards the target, and even at that it isnt quite reliable, their AI sometimes seems too overwhelmed just existing to pay attention to it.

When it comes to helping your teammates, tho, markers are quite good. Marking tanks and enemy defenses is a godsend, and marking enemies coming our way I feel that helps my team prepare for them and pre-aim.
Marking enemies to get them killed by your squad feels a bit unrewarded, but its ok, else I would see marks spam

the help it gives to the bots is they have a longer sight range in front of them opposed to the radius they can detect other players or bots around them, but the ai isnt helped beyond that i dont think.

im no developer tho lol just a educated guess

For bots I don’t think marking really does much since their reaction time is eh majority of the time, although I do mark a lot to show where a bunch of enemies are and which way they are moving or to mark a tank to keep track of it so I can crawl on it and throw a det pack at the back of it’s turret, or so others know a tank is right there
