When I told my Russian boys we were going to face the Western Allies, I think they were expecting a different kind of place just saying, you know? Or maybe is cultural and they wear coats like that even in summer and carry a vodka launcher, just in case.

I’ve never tried to have Soviets fight in Tunisia in custom battles - do they all come with winter uniforms there…?
That reminds me… I should start playing custom battles outside of Axis v Western Allies… I should try out some Operation Unthinkable at some point as well on Berlin maps - Allies + Axis vs Soviets. Does anyone know if bots will spawn in mixed faction compositions if I add both Allies and Axis together against the Soviets in a custom battle…? I tried doing Japan + Axis against the just the Allies some time ago in the Pacific to make a colonial conflict, but only Japanese soldiers spawned (whilst I was the sole German contingent)…

that can only happens in mods.
custom games no longer respects the only ussr / japan in tunisia etc.
profiles happens to be hard coded based on the map rather than missions.
which as mentioned, operation unthinkable can only be done through modded games with edited profiles. or, switched teams.
pretty much this.
anyway, as far goes the thread, ussr hasn’t been set the berlin/manchuria preset on tunisia.
so… yikes

Yeah, or rather, it depends specifically on how you have them customized in the lobby; since the Russians didn’t participate in the Tunisia campaign, their uniforms don’t change automatically.
I actually tried Operation Unthinkable on the Wald map, and it was pretty interesting in fact, that’s the only reason I grind the Allies. XD
I think so; I remember setting up a match in Tunisia with Japan, the USSR, and Germany against the Western Allies, and it was total chaos shouting in German, Japanese, and Russian. One time, a guy with a full BR5 premium loadout joined the opposing team; if I hadn’t also been running BR5 gear and just unlocked the Ferdinand that Super Pershing would have absolutely crushed us.
Having Russians in Normandy was interesting, too; back then, I only had BR1 gear and a few Battle Pass items for the Soviets, so this new premium squad was a huge boost for me.

Yup, I play Tunisia all the time, with every faction in custom matches, and the Soviet love to wear their winter finest in the desert.
