If you’ve played heroes & Generals you’d know what I mean. A dynamic 2d simple map with points that represents towns/cities that axis/allies can fight for, the side that reaches a total # of points i.e captured city/towns wins.
Each battle for a point can be a match i.e conquest/ctp and the victor decides who gets the point on the main “grand strategy map”.
Players move on the grand map using their battalions that they can spawn in for a resource cost or something, Heroes & Generals has a pretty good system for reference.
I feel it would suit the game really well and give it more “feel” of working toward something greater.
I say again, hell no. That system is horrible, it was completely ruined by players.
If you want to take tips from H&G, look at the game, do the COMPLETE OPPOSITE. Those devs have been milking that game for 5 years minimum. Any design like that, as long as it’s AI controlled where the battles take place, fine, but players should never get any input on it other than fighting.
I don’t think the WT WW mode would be much fun here at all - i enjoy WWM in WT but it’s pretty clunky, can’t be run continually and is too dependent on having teams.
Rather I think it needs a bit of progression - a different set of battles becoming available as you advance the levels, and others dropping off - would also provide a basic form of match making that it desperately needs.
I think following a Red Orchestra/ Rising Storm path would be better. Where you would fight for different territories and conquering the map wins the campaign.
Agreed, a Rising Storm 2 sort of campaign would be cool. Especially on Moscow as it seems a lot of the maps are on the same map, but different locations, as the fortress can be seen in multiple maps.
Yeah, they’d need to have a join in progress feature and then lobbies (servers) dedicated to the mode. Then allow the same stuff as RO/RS. Maybe even give a XP bonus for multiple matches played in the same lobby to encourage players to stick in them.
So they can “persuade” you to buy even more gold?
The war in HnG is pretty broken cause the devs there didnt updated it since the Soviet Update in 2015. HnG is nothing more than a example how to screw a good running game in less than two years.
I didn’t enjoy WT WW mode all that much, it wasn’t much of a perpetual battle. I’m more thinking along of a dynamic 2d world map that allies and axis fight for and each battle (encounter) creates a instance that becomes publicly joinable.
