The Douglas A‑1 Skyraider’s prototype, designated XBT2D‑1, first flew on 18 March 1945
The Skyraider was originally designed as the AD (Attack, Dive) aircraft for the U.S. Navy, ordered in July 1944 to meet a requirement for a single‑seat, carrier‑compatible dive and torpedo bomber The prototype, built by Douglas Aircraft Company under the design of Ed Heinemann, was designated XBT2D‑1 and completed in March 1945
Its maiden flight took place 18 March 1945 at Douglas’s facility, demonstrating the aircraft’s basic performance and handlingFollowing this, the prototype underwent testing at the Naval Air Test Center in April 1945
Although the prototype flew in 1945, the Skyraider did not enter U.S. Navy service until 1946 as the AD‑1 The type went on to be built in 3,180 variants and served in multiple roles from Korea through Vietnam, outliving many of its jet‑age contemporaries [! In summary: The Douglas A‑1 Skyraider prototype’s first flight date is 18 March 1945, marking the start of a long and successful career for this rugged, piston‑engined attack aircraft

Feel free to make recommendation’s about loadout i dont normally play planes so my knowledge is limited. The skyraider is the ultimate evolution of the us attacker. A single engine attacker with the loadout of a light to medium bomber. Not a troll post as you see i went from br4 to br6 thinking they would fall in the middle. If anyone knows how good the skyraider is from war thunder feel free to comment. also i made sure all three loadouts are weapons used in ww2. a lot of the stuff was from the 50’s and beyon long live the skyraider.
The first prototype Douglas XBT2D-1 Dauntless II, Bu. No. 9085. In this photograph the airplane has a propeller spinner. (Douglas Aircraft Company)
Length: 38 feet 10 inches (11.8 m) Wingspan: 50 feet (15.2 m) Height: 15 feet 8 inches (4.7 m) Empty Weight: 11,968 pounds (5,429 kg) Max Weight: 25,000 pounds (11,340 kg) Top Speed: 322 miles per hour (518 kph Crew: One Ceiling: 28,500 feet (8,686 m) Armament: Varies between models but typically is up to four 20mm cannons and up to 8,000 pounds (3,628 kg) of ordnance on 15 external hardpoints, including bombs, torpedoes, mine dispensers, unguided rockets and gun pods
This is the attack aircraft I most want in the US tech tree. Insane bomb loads are precisely the essence of the high-BR US tech tree. At the very least, it should be a fun vehicle.
No people get greedy when they see the payload but its speed is 550 km/h so its more like US Ilyushin Il-10. The P-47 still is better.
Its a bit better IL-10 but probably will get less payload then this. Since Krieger has very optimistic Korean war payload options. In game you will get something like this. But this depends on the variant since there is one with turret on the back and different guns and 3 squad members really depends on the variant.
Who the fuck is you guys, also I would say the F-80 and P-47 are on par cause the P-47 definitely has the payload to make up for the flight performance gap
They are making a useless argument since this two planes are separated in different classes since 1 is a ground attacker class the other is a fighter class and the reality is Allies have best ground attackers and fighters at the same time and their tanks are not exactly worst so after Soviet body armor is remove they will be the most hated faction.
That’s not my opinion that’s the community opinion. I’m just telling you what’s gonna happen. I can see it very clearly after body armor is removed then all this hate will turn on the Allies faction since they avoid air superiority balance for a long time.
