Here’s what happened. I was driving a tank earlier and passing through bushes and trees. If I so much as brush against any vegetation, it’s exactly like a soaked newspaper slapping right onto my viewport. The foliage stays stuck for a full minute, leaving me completely blind. I can either reverse to get rid of it, or wait a full minute for it to fade and despawn on its own.
When any vehicle drives over vegetation, it should crush it under its hull instead of having foliage plastered across the viewing optics.
This mechanic is absolutely terrible and utterly ridiculous.
If real life worked like this, German troops pushing through the Ardennes would’ve wasted days scraping stuck branches and foliage off their tanks.
Realistically, tanks should just crush all bushes flat under their treads when rolling through them. Instead, broken branches cling to the optics like glue and won’t come off no matter what you do.
Tank gameplay already has enough restrictive mechanics as it is, and this foliage bug is just infuriating on top of everything else.
It’s a shame I spent ages searching but couldn’t find that YouTube footage I watched before. It showed a Panzer II driving through woodland at full speed, flattening any trees with a trunk diameter under 10 centimeters without slowing down at all.
The point is, in real life, all the undergrowth just gets crushed flat under the tracks. You’d never see plants get cleanly sheared off at the roots like cut wheat, with the upper branches flying up and plastering themselves all over the tank’s viewing ports.
As soon as infantry with some light foliage in front of them isn’t only completely blind, but also completely exposed because their gun is sticking out, I’ll agree with you. Fix the infantry version of this problem first, in this infantry-focused game, and then we can talk about tanks.

I think the vegetation for infantry is just static immovable textures.
You can’t even cut them down with shovels or axes.
Even tiny saplings can only be destroyed with satchel charges, which is ridiculous.
It’d be nice if soldiers could just brush foliage aside as they move through it so it doesn’t block their vision.
To be honest, compared with historical footage, the vegetation density in the game feels way too thick.

For me it’s not about thick or not. It’s about if you’re prone with a gun amongst some fucking GRASS, you can spot a target. Y’ever laid down in the grass? It doesn’t rob you of sight. Also don’t get me started about shooting windowsills your gun is clearly sticking out 18" over…
Rant not at all over…
To put it simply, I’ve looked through a bunch of historical photos. The grass in the game is either way too tall, or the sightline when prone is set far too low. Even machine guns with relatively high tripods get their barrels completely covered by grass as soon as we lie flat. That’s why players barely ever go prone and mostly fire from a crouch instead. It’s really frustrating. In around 80% of maps, Tunisia being the only exception with sparse grass, you can’t get a clear view when prone—tall foliage blocks your entire vision.
Imo you don’t need historical photos of lads with guns. Any person can go lay in the grass or foliage and see how you can adjust your focus to not be completely blinded by it. It’s a real shortcoming of the game that going prone in literal grass makes you 100% blind.
That’s the thing. Without reference pictures, my argument won’t carry much weight.
Yeah, I just can’t wrap my head around it. This is a battlefield, so why is the grass this tall? It’s up past people’s calves. Even if you prop yourself up halfway on your elbows and lift your gun off the ground—no tripod required—there’s still half a meter of tall grass blocking your line of sight. It’s so aggravating.
I think I need to draft a proper suggestion post and organize all these points clearly.
