Does enlisted feel sandboxy to you?

I just want to know the general opinion on the topic.
(Note: I’m not asking “does enlisted match the deffinition of a sandbox”. I ask if you feel you can do whatever freely.)

Personally I don’t feel this way. While I can use almost everything I want, not everything is worth it. And since playerbase is a bit lacking, taking suboptimal gear can lose you a match.
And it’s a damn shame. enlisted has arguably the biggest choice of ww2 weapons I ever saw in a game yet I “can’t” really use it.

When im playing big action mod yes :stuck_out_tongue:

I guess its okay. I spend most of my time playing with unpopular weapons/vehicles.

Last night i was tagging p-38s in a potez. You can do what you want i suppose in that sense…

So i will say yes…but the snowball effect that creates short games interferes with it

My team would have been much better off if i wasnt shaming p-38s with 1x 7mm mg

That’s the problem I no longer care about. I do have all tech trees maxed out. I really do not need exps.
And that’s why I just dessert every match I would need to carry otherwise.
I will not cripple my stats, especially since other people does it to.

Anyway.
To the contrary, I’ve recently started playing things that I had more or less ignored before.

Like JP IV with L70 7,5 cm on BR5 or some Italian stuff.

Not carrying about the grind for sure opens up a lot of possibilities.
But I guess only a few players can afford this. (Purely based on statistics.)

Yeah, if you are still grinding tech trees using non meta stuff really isn’t what you want do.

But uf you don’t care about factions you play. You can take advantage of current faction bias and play faction ms which are currently popular for easy wins. (= way faster grind)

Or the oposite. Faction you like to play is currently being slaughtered so you suffer or play something you don’t enjoy.

Devs really need to do something.

I think that Enlisted found the golden middle ground between being a sandbox and a historical accuracy.

Yes, it is extremely annoying. Especially if you want to play for example BR3 and get into match against BR5.

It’s basically unfair².

Personally I don’t agree. The only really HA thing is that factions use their weapons (unlike in BF). But this was also achieved in H&G and I felt a lot more free there.

If you want to experience true sadbox, just find a group of 3 other veterans somewhere. Then you can play more or less any faction and BR with whatever equipment you want. If you can rely on the people around you, it’s not that big of a deal.

Yup. I want to use one MG34 in my BR2 lineup but I’m not even going to try to fight BR5 with it. Probably I could put up a fight but why seweat?

That’s why I believe ±0 BR is just necessary. Teams are unbalanced even now. In my opinion nothing would change. But this 2 queues system is just extremely annoying and limiting.

Yeah, some BRs would be basically pre merge Tunisia all over again. But I really dont care. Still better than when one whole faction is overall unpopular.

They only way is to boost the stable player base count for all factions and tiers, so the game results will be less deterministic by other factors like meta, map choice and updates. I think Darkflow planned this before the merge by releasing this game on steam, but I doubt this will do the trick.

It is promising as of right now, but we still need more ambience, i.e: more interactive sounds, more accurate uniforms, and more wider playable area instead a small slit of what should be considered a whole battlefield.

yes, enlisted is sandboxy.

does it feel like one?

well, i’d argue yes.

problem is, allowing you to go with whatever you want, isn’t always fun or rewarding depending on few aspects.

because the line blurss out when you focus on being efficient and get some experience from it.

then it’s kinda the reason why you face people with meta and full auto.

they don’t care.
they just want to see funny numbers go up.

no
not at all
succesfull sandbox games give one advantages and disadvantages depends on what player choose to play.
Like; if you play as warrior in skyrim you put your charachters life at stake more often than magician or archer but also can force your longe range user opponents to close fight and exploit their disadvantages on low armor and health
all of those aspects are half as.sed in enlisted
If you choose tank hunters, they will be useless because maps are small. You have to choose heaviest tank to gain some succes

altought different sniper and bolt action rifles have different flavour, this ddoesnt matter since maps are heavily focused on cqc

If you choose to use low level smg like lets say pps42 over ppsh41, there is no benefit of it.
in most games, sandbox or not, low ammo and low fire rates smgs have lower recoil and lower gunsway and better at long range than high fire rated smgs. Thats not a thing in enlisted

lmgs altough have different flavour like zh 29 and bren can be used like assault rifle and more controllable than mg42, means nothing because lmg handling is so bad in this game

nearly every aspect of gameplay is half baked and its annoying.
there is just an illusion of choise but not real consequences of them
