Sometimes I will land a plane, I have not seen it show up on the kill feed. Are there 2 different mechanics for carrier landing and landing on the map successfully?
Yes, succesfully landing still credits the enemy with a vehicle kill. They just don’t get the pilot kill, because he survives.
Carrier landings actually don’t change things. If you land and repair, then take off again, and then crash without taking any more damage - the last guy who shot at you from before still gets the credit.

Good answer, I noticed you cannot actually, “land” on a non carrier, you crash but survive kind of deal. Heroes and Generals you use to be able to land fix the plane and get back at it.
You could even bait people out of the wood and give them a free slug.

No matter how you look at it, planes are the most unfair part of the game in terms of frag scoring.
