Dodge WC52

With the introduction of jeeps it would be great to see other vehicles added to the game.

The Dodge WC52.

This was used by USA but also UK, Australia etc. The RAAF used them as command cars.

This would carry supplies, including maybe even engineer refill as well as I’m thinking four to five soldiers.

Some versions were armed such as with M2 Browning however I would envisage the ‘Beep’ as it was sometimes called as an unarmed alternative to the jeep.

Basically one would have:

Jeep - 3 soldiers, armed (M1919). [also has grenades]

WC52 - 4-5 soldiers, unarmed. Supplies such as ammo box and med kit, maybe engineer refill.

Studebaker ‘APC’ - full squad of soldiers, unarmed, mobile rallypoint.

These options would reflect real WWII battlefield reality while also providing a variety of vehicles in different roles which players can choose which best suits them.

Why use a Beep instead of a jeep? More soldiers and supplies can be more useful to you than only three soldiers and a machine gun, it’s up to you.

As I have argued before, WWII was a mechanised war and Enlisted should reflect that.

It is imperative that players have vehicles to quickly move soldiers around especially in certain maps and gamemodes like Confrontation where you need to get forward and back to points as fast as possible.

Vehicles also assist flanking which is currently very difficult on larger maps (usually most of your dumb AI squad gets killed on the way there).

I would reiterate in regards to the flanking point that the WC52 is (in my suggestion) unarmed, while the current in game jeeps only carry 3 soldiers at most. As such, I do not consider either OP for flanking or general gameplay.

For USSR they could use the WC52 as well, thousands were supplied under Lend-Lease. I am nevertheless very open to hearing alternative Soviet specific suggestions for vehicles.

The Germans would get the Horch 901. To some it may seem like a larger Kubelwagen however in game it would have the same abilities as the WC52 in terms of carrying supplies etc.

The Japanese could use the Toyota KC truck.

Since this is a truck it is not ideal however we already have the Kurogane 95. I strongly encourage alternative suggestions because I am aware Toyota KC isnt great.

Perhaps Japan could use a captured civilian small 4WD/ute such as British, Dutch or French. The 1934 Ford ute [made in Australia, potentially encountered in New Guinea] comes to mind for instance.

^1934 Ford Australia ute.

I do not have a specific BR in mind for these, BR II or III definitely, potentially foldered with the jeep in BR II.

NOTE TO ADMINS: Poll for Horch 901 will be in comments, stupid forum wouldnt let me add two polls.

I have not added a poll for the Toyota KC since I want to hear alternatives before getting a proper yes/no poll for the devs.

Likewise if there is support for the Dodge WC52 for Allies I dont see much reason to oppose it for USSR, it would depend on if there are other suggestions which myself and others can take into consideration.

Maybe if we give them an MG and ammo refilling, i think this would be a good way to introduce a bigger assault team with a vehicle, less agile than a regular Jeep but can carry a bigger crew.

Ah good, thank you. Yes this would work, I guess the extra two soldiers would have to ride in the back.

Hilarious this holds more people than Japanese WWII era cars.

This vehicle also had the m6 37mm gmc variant. It would be a interesting event reward

Correct, was that the Fargo or another one? Cause there was one with the 37mm gun and an M2 Browning oddly attached to the front bumper bar (for anti aircraft I guess).

But yeah would be a good event or premium.

In an ideal world one would have that as a potential upgrade like you choose either more ammo boxes or 37mm gun for example however that would never happen and I wouldnt make it a formal suggestion.

Could be a small “APC” to be honest if it is unarmed.

sorry do you mean the WC52?

Yes, didnt really notice the Horch. Horch should also be “APC”.

I disagree, its basically just a large car or 1940s version of an SUV 4WD.

I see no real function with a unarmed jeep, if it is meant to use for flanking, not many people will really benefit from its supply option before the first nuke packs blow it up. As “APC” it would at least serve a niche position with having less space than a truck but also being smaller, similar to the UC.
Or simply give it a M1919 or M2HB, that could work, and either give it a bigger squad size or allow temporal spawn of other squads on it, similar to how it works when vehicles spawn in Heroes and Generals.

Fair but for me it was more transport options and supplies.

The WC52 did use MGs at times but I worried other players might consider that OP or make the current Willys Jeep obsolete (why use a 3 man jeep when you can use a 4-5 man jeep thats also armed AND has supplies?)

Similarly I didnt say APC,

  1. Because it has zero armour.
  2. Similar to above, if I made it a mobile rallypoint then players would question the point of existing APCs.

Now tbh I like your idea, having larger squad, armed, supplies and mobile rallypoint would be awesome and probably the most logical but sadly in Enlisted devs and players dont like that sort of thing.
