The AI squad members seem to die very quickly.
Do they really add to the gameplay or are they there to try to distinguish this from the other 20 WW2 FPS games on the market?

They are quite clunky and need a lot of improvements.
However, they’ve added so much interesting gameplay to me that this is one of the few FPS games I actually play and am good at. There’s quite a few unique strategies you can use with them. I think they appeal to RTS players more than FPS players in a way, while people coming from other FPS games and used to other FPS games end up just getting their squad killed pretty quick and can’t think of any good ways to use them.
I’m tempted to make a squad tactics tutorial video or something to show people how they aren’t just an entourage, they actually need to be bossed around and taken the right places to be used effectively.
I’ve seen my bois get like 3 kills each. The are very basic but they can be effective
Bigger battles, squad customization system, swapping soldiers to respond into a new threat, getting multiple spawns without having to go through the spawn process, easier to get more kills, having multiple engagements with the same real person in less than a minute cause you both have entire squads, and your AI squad members garrisoning a building and saving your ass from time to time
Yes, they add immense value and personally I don’t think their AI really needs to improve all that much. We’re the Hero in the game…
It’s a totally different kind of FPS and I’m having a blast with it. Much more dynamic and chaotic. Without any of the long drawn out time to battle. Having a squad to tweak and personalize also helps drastically balance out different squad/vehicle types.
I’m loving it.
I like the atmosphere they bring. I just find their controls (or lack thereof) very opaque so that it all seems very random to me.
Hopefully they’ll come out with a guide to using them that explains it better.
Well even if they don’t do much they still have the awesome value of giving the enemy someone other than you to shoot at. I often use mine to test if there are enemies where I want to go by ordering them to move their first. If they don’t get killed then I know it’s safe for me. lol
Remind me not to join your squad…
That would be very welcome.
