I was in a game earlier and threw an explosive tank on top of the engine deck of a soviet tank, it hit the turret and landed on the engine deck but the tank just moved backwards and the explosive pack didn’t move with the tank and stayed where it was until the tank had moved far enough for the explosive to not deal damage. why didn’t the explosive pack collide with the turret and move backwards as the tank moved? even if it didn’t collide with the turret, it should’ve moved back with the tank as it was on the engine deck.
They’re wonky like that. A quirky™ girl if you would. So they have collision upon impact, hence why it didn’t just phase through into the floor, but they don’t stick or have any sort of friction. They’ll tumble and roll and move or stay in place as the tank moves while an explosion pack is on them
Easiest solution? Cook. Explosion packs have ~5-6 seconds of fuse. Depending on the range, hold it for bout 4-5 seconds and then throw it. Giving them 0 time to react and nearly guaranteeing the kill so long as it ain’t Soviet or a Tiger II which can be a little weird sometimes. Also, getting it up underneath is the absolute best bet. This goes for all thrown or dropped AT weapons. If you can’t reasonably manage that, engine deck or right up against the turret. You might overpressure from the engine deck, but will almost certainly disable it. You should almost certainly kill it up next to the turret. Especially if you get it on the top of the hull, next to the turret, towards the front of the tank. That’s turret crew, driver, and machine gunner all in the danger zone as well as a lot of ammo on a lot of tanks
Yeah it was super weird for me to see the explosive pack just go through the turret as if it was a ghost and not move back with the tank. But thanks for the tips I’ll use them next time I see a tank
