Do 17 Z-7
DESCRIPTION
Do 17 Z-7 - was a German twin-engine heavy night fighter of World War II.
It was developed by the Dornier company in 1940 for the newly formed night fighter unit 1./NJG 2.
The aircraft was based on the Do 17 Z-3, with its nose section replaced by that of the Ju 88C-2 to increase firepower and install an armor plate.
Only three Do 17 Z-7s were built, and their operational experience led to the development of the more advanced Do 17 Z-10; no more than nine of those were produced.
The aircraft were tested, but there is no confirmed record of their combat use.
