Display the BR bracket at the start of the match

Why it’s nothing new:

  1. Anyone who has played the game for a while can already guess the BR bracket by the kill log, e.g. you see FG/STG/AS/etc. - means BR4-5, if your lineup is BR3 and you see 88mm KwK/85mm Soviet gun - means you are in BR3-4, etc.

  2. Anyone who uses paratroopers can already see the BR bracket when choosing the loadout from the box.

  3. Sometimes the BR bracket can be figured out by the map, e.g. if you have a BR3 lineup and you load into a Moscow/Tunisia map - means you are in BR2-3.

Pros:

  1. Taking T-34 (BR3) out and meeting Tiger H1 (BR4) is not a pleasant experience. If I knew I was in an uptier, I wouldn’t have taken it and someone on my team with T-34-85 or IS-1 (BR4) would be better for the team.

  2. If I start a game as BR3 Germany and the game sends me to 1945 Berlin against T-28 and BT-7 from 1930s, I will quit this match 100% once I realize during the match that players around me are BR2. However, if I could quit instantly, another player (who might not care about BS time travelling) would have a chance to join at the beginning of the match and keep the game more balanced.

Cons:

  1. Maybe some crybabies who only want to play downtiers will quit faster than usual? But even then it’s better to get rid of them as soon as possible and have another human player replace them.

Poll:

  • Yes, show the BR bracket when match loads
  • No, don’t show it (comment why)

Qol stuff is always good.

Would also remove a lot of confusion for newcomers thinking they’re outmatched when they are not, etc.

I fully support this because it’s better to go into a mission knowing what you’re going to be fighting versus blindly stumbling upon and up tier or down tier.

Even putting something in the loading screen similar to a tool tip hint would work or something at the very begining before you spawn your first Squad. This would go a long way towards transparency, this would also help track issues better like if something needs to be changed in its BR because it offers more clarity on what was in that particular mission Even though that’s a lesser benefit from this.

Awesome idea, but could be solved if each BR is locked to face the same BR.

decent idea.

Id rather they spent the time time changing it to BR ±0 than add this though.

this really shouldnt be needed in the first place

One thing I can agree with you on lol. I don’t agree with some of the reasons you laid out but it’s a
good idea nonetheless. Evidently historical accuracy matters way more to you than it does me. But that’s ok, I still like to know what I’m up against. Perhaps they could also show on the scoreboard what BR squad each player is currently playing as too. Like stated previously, QoL changes are always good, no idea why people vote against it.

While I don’t disagree with the ±0 idea, it would largely depend on playerbase numbers and actually take some effort and time from the devs.

I don’t think any time or effort really would be required to just add text saying “BR 3-4”, on the other hand.

A 0/0 matchmaking would mean we wouldn’t have to worry about it. :joy: My biggest complaint besides the matchmaking is still being shoved into game modes that I chose to avoid, like ASSAULT. I have been almost living in the custom match mode since I can play my game, but the other day played two normal matches, and BOTH were assault. I played the first and then deserted the second when I saw it was another assault match.

Would be nice to have an option to toggle it in settings. Would also be nice if modders were able to easily set the br of their maps so that the custom Paratrooper boxes stop breaking

Well I used to think this was a good idea so I didn’t take certain vehicles into an uptiered match (i.e. heavily armoured tanks with small guns)… but as you said it. But as our ragequitting poster admitted, this would mostly be a tool to help people rage quit early. I oppose.
