It’s not new, the idea has been mentioned often, but with the recent update It’s clear a way to encourage players to vary their campaigns choices to have more even teams is necessary.
So devs, help us help you:
The community has proposed pretty often that you implement a very simple box option to play any faction AND any campaign… WITH bonus xp after battle as reward. It would be so simple to implement and motivate everyone to play random factions, thus eliminating scenarios where there’s 1 human + 9 bots vs 10 humans.
I’m persuaded a mere 20% or 25% bonus xp wouldn’t hurt your sales much, quite the opposite.
Give it a thought will you?

I know we’ve mentioned it before but I really really wish there was a front system. Would of solved most of these issues but I’m afraid that ship has sailed and your suggestion may now be the best solution

I was down with this idea, sounds good on paper.
But now we got p2w stalingrad added and i won’t touch that shit with a stick.
So i would just desert half the time, very cool
Yeah… I’m suggesting something that would be extremely easy to code and beneficial for all parties… a front system would be pure fun, but I fear the game isn’t headed that way.
There could be some form of matchmaking too, but it’s extremely risky to implement, something most don’t realize.
If it’s too restrictive, say same lvl vs same lvs, matchs will be boring and void of any surprises for low lvls and high lvls will be tedious and full of sweating try hards. I will completely quit the game if it happens.
If it’s not restrictive enough, then the current problem will remain more or less the same.
I’m very wary of matchmakings. It’s not something to be implemented lightly.

Yeah the game is absolutely dead set on splitting the base more and more. I can unfortunately see them implementing 2 or more campaigns…something has to be installed to fill these vacant teams

The “good thing” I see with upcoming campaigns is that they might use the same business model as Stalingrad. It’s “good” because those campaigns are grinded very fast… which means once it’s done all is left to do is enjoy any side casually without the need to grind and focus on a single side. So teams should even out by themselves real fast with those
A consolation 🤷
It could also leave them rather vacant as many people simply grind to grind. Many people jump ship after the new items are gone and thats sort of the problem; many arent in it for the gameplay so making it 4X faster isnt always a good thing

Yeah It’s something I’m very curious about, and so are the devs. This business model is literally an experiment as they stated somewhere. I’d really love having access to data to see how many max lvl players keep playing campaigns…
I do sometimes, as I’m very casual, but my case might really not be the norm.
The way I personally play is getting a the new stuff I’m interested in for example the 39M, the Sherman 3 and the MP43. I grind all those and bounce around until I’m done then I follow the game play on my favorite campaigns.
Not sure how everyone else plays buts thats my take

That’s what I was thinking about the new business models. Stalingrad is fun. The maps are really nice and offer a lot of tactical moves (Exept crossing the railway. Crossing the railway sucks) weaponry here is the most balanced of all campaigns. It’s still very new so more maps are very likely to get added… It might be or become the favourite campaigns of some that will enjoy it even once maxed
I know for a fact if something like pacific gets implemented I will stick with Japanese and banzai around like a total moron, even after completion
I concur, although they should make effectively 5 campaigns for the game. Once they have enough players they could add in something in the Pacific as the 6th campaign in both Early and Late stages.
- War in the East Early (1939 - 1943) Barbarossa - Zitadelle let’s say
- War in the East Late (1944 - 1945) Bagration - Berlin
- War in the West Early (1940 - 1943) French - Balkan Campaigns.
- War in the West Late (1944 - 1945) Overlord - Berlin
- African Campaign
There is only one thing I don’t understand. How is the Balkan supposed to be a part of the war in the west?
While its sounds good, it needs option to turn certain campaings off.
Otherwise people just quit if they get campaing they hate.
Im 100% sure if people quit soon enough other player is thrown at his place, leaving new arrival without change to build any rallies and sometimes nuked right away by tanks or whatever…
It’s just the base idea 🤷
I’m truly hoping devs implement it and perfect it…
Its essentially the last major campaign pre-Barbarossa and allows them to play out the Greek/Cyprus campaigns against the British (hence rolling it up into the “Western” set of scenarios)
Alternatively you could look at it as West of Russia…

Yeah this all seems straightforward if we actually want to have human lobbies:
Step I. Reorganize campaigns into fronts and add maps inside them, not outside separate for each city:
- Eastern Front 1941-42/43
Moscow maps and equipment, Stalingrad, Kursk, etc
- Eastern Front 1942/43-45
Berlin, Bagration, etc
- Western Front 1944-45
Normandy, Bulge, etc
- North Africa 1940-43
Tunisia, Egypt etc
- Pacific / Finland / France / Balkans?
Step II. Even with this division, that’s 5 existing campaigns with 2 queues for each faction. I’m not sure I know a single game that separates its playerbase into 10 non-interlocking queues.
It is absolutely essential for the health of the playerbase to add “any campaign any faction” matchmaking option.
Personally, I would also add “I agree to wait as long as it takes for a full human lobby” box as well.
