Different battles have separate ranks to avoid the embarrassment of a marshal useing a bolt rifle in low-level campaigns.
And the promotion difficulty will be increased near marshals.

I’m literally a Marshal and in the level 30s for both Tunisia and Normandy Axis and use K98 bolt action lmao

If anything, why are any of the CO ranks on the battlefield? I don’t think they’re meant to be reflected for actual gameplay. Ranks on uniform should stay realistic, so NCOs and Enlisted if you’re talking about cosmetics.
real question is why the fk there are such meaningless ranks in first place.
