Desertion penalties

Well, show me your report, don’t give me this my personal observation BS, cuz my personal observation is that I don’t see any decline in the games I play. Show me your confirmation from the Dev’s you claim to have, cuz you know that is BS as well.

And you keep ducking my whole point, if the Dev’s have “NOT TRIED INCENTIVES”, how do you know that penalties are more effective? You don’t, that is why your statement is PURE SPECULATION. Tell me genius, how do you know Penalties are more effective when incentives have not been tried? You can’t, that is my point.

So you’re not gonna present any evidence noted.

A reward for not deserting is the EXACT SAME as a penalty for doing so. Either way you get less for deserting than you do for not deserting. Crazy concept. It’s just one is more easily perceived by players. Do you think the one more perceivable is more effective.

I would be fine with implementing a reward for having a trend of not leaving matches. But it does not work as a replacement for the penalty. Only as a supplement.

As for the exact quote. Do you know how hard it is to figure out which community manager reported it, what exact words they used to find it? Why would I put in that much effort when you have put in zero evidence yourself?

And the only reason you want a reward instead of a penalty is cuz you don’t want to feel bad for leaving. Maybe stop leaving more than 25 percent of matches and it shouldn’t be a problem.seeing as you don’t even get penalties for your first desertion of the day and the penalty doesn’t apply if you don’t desert for four games in a row

I don’t feel bad for deserting when I do, because I don’t give a shit, they can penalize me all they want and it doesn’t effect me what so ever. I don’t need experience, I don’t need silver, all my squads and tech trees are fully researched and completed, so, no penalty is going to hurt me. How many other vets are there with maxed out squads and tech tree’s? Do you think a penalty effects them any more then me? Of course, incentives don’t effect me either since I don’t need experience or silver, but at least I can admit that, you can’t even admit that your penalty vs incentives theory is pure speculation, when the Dev’s haven’t even tried any other method.

Here is the definition of speculation.
“The forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence”…If the Dev’s have ONLY tried penalties and no other method to deter desertions, then you have no evidence that punishment is the best deterrent. :no_good_man:

Oh wow you spent all the time but didn’t even bother reading what I said. “I’m fine with them adding a reward not as a replacement but as a supplement for the current penalty system”

Ok, then we agree. Good thing we got that settled. :joy:

Well you said the penalty was just a worst version of the reward. I said that the penalty is more effective but they can both work together to work off of each other. Literal carrot and stick.

As an old saying goes, “You can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” and “You can’t carve rotten wood into anything useful”. When I team up with four of my mates for an attack or defense, and then see that everyone else is just sniping instead of recapturing spawn points or pushing/defending the objective up close, I know these teammates are totally unreliable and I need to cut my losses early—we’re definitely going to lose. A loss means no credits earned, so it’s better to just start a new match we can actually win. There was one time my squad and I wiped out every enemy on the objective and captured all their spawn points, only to find that not a single ally was pushing forward; they all just hung around the perimeter without moving in. The four of us were completely drained from fending off counterattacks and had no energy left to go back and secure the objective ourselves. In the end, when the match finally ended, we’d burned through 400 manpower just for that one objective, and there was a 2,000+ point gap between our scores and theirs. How are you supposed to win a match like that? Sometimes when your teammates are this useless, you shouldn’t even bother trying to salvage the game—cut them loose. Why should I be stuck doing all the dirty work for them?

That is exactly the problem…they should have a selector to say not join accounts that are under 13yo or whatnot. When you get paired with people who understand the fundamentals it is so much better, if not it’s infuriating. The only thing worse is when they start you in a game with them already lost a point, then to be slapped with a desertion penalty for rage quitting. @Luvs2spooge is right, they need rewards to incentivized players who stick it out…I have many times and actually won but it’s work. The new reward update needs to penalize those not helping the team or point so everyone is not just playing custom games.

I don’t even desert that much to be honest, most of my desertion penalties have come from means outside my control, like loss of power, loss of internet and being booted by the network. Just last week I was deserted from Enlisted four or five times by power outages. So, if I cared, and it effected me, then I would be pissed as hell to get that 20% penalty four or times from shit that was out of my control. Fortunately, I was playing custom matches, so I incurred no penalty on any of the power outages. But this is an example where a penalty is not a good thing.

If I was still building all my squads and tech tree. Which would be more effective in keeping me in a game that has become an obvious seal clubbing? Well, in my case that would be incentives, more experience and silver for the losing team would at least make me consider sticking the game out. A 20% penalty? Big deal, the amount of silver and experience I am going to receive from this seal clubbing isn’t enough for me stick it out.

Another thing, Gaijin’s preferred map/mode is such a clusterf**k that more times then not, your stuck in a map/mode YOU HATE, and you wasted your time giving that map or mode the thumbs downs, only to be ignored by Gaijin. I can guarantee you if I am dropped in a game mode “I HATE” and getting seal clubbed, “I AM DESERTING”. Most of the time I just desert when I see the mode “ASSAULT” before the game even starts. So, that is another thing that works against the game. This is why I enjoy custom matches. I choose the map, I choose the mode, I choose how many players and I don’t get a desertion penalty if I have to leave the game for any reason. After all, it’s just a free to play video game.

I will desert Stalingrad Tractor Plant every time.

I will desert reverse D-Day map every time.

I do feel a bit bad about abandoning my potential team, but to be frank I do not have any desire to suffer through 20-40 minutes of unfun gameplay in the limited time I have to enjoy Enlisted. I would much rather immediately leave a match I have no interest in, and queue again hoping for a better map/mode.

The desertion penalty is meaningless, it does not affect me in any way. It does however, harm newer players and should be removed because of this.

I agree completely.

In order for it to effect you you need to desert more than every four games or more than once a day

it was a figure of speech. The desertion penalty is being applied to me frequently, I just do not care about it, as I already have plenty of rp saved up.
