Enlisted can definitely stand out as a game that features a unique AI squad system, and there definitely is potential here for some truly amazing gameplay mechanics. That said, the squads just aren’t what they could be. I understand that this isn’t the final version of the game and that things are still being worked out, but we could definitely benefit from more squad functions. I also understand that y’all at Gaijin will add more functions in the future, but here are my suggestions:
-
Add a lot of different functions for the squads: throw grenade here, suppressing fire there, defend all entrances/exits to this house, converge on that point from different directions, spread out. . . There’s a lot to do (There would have to be a function that you can mark a spot on the map to direct your squad rather than just look at a point and pressing X.)
-
Add more functions than there are available keys to use. Many keys are taken up by essential functions like movement and weaponry, so if we could a few that we think are important from a large pool of squad commands. That would add a nice flavour to make players play a certain way with a unique selection of squad commands and could be very good for the game

Someone else already said this, and they have a great idea: for all players, including your squad, get rid of collisions between players and especially your squadmates. If I’m in a house and shooting through a window, sometimes my aim is disrupted because my squad tries to give me a hug, and hugs aren’t something I like to get in the heat of battle.
AI squads really are something that we can work with, and if we perfect them and add a bunch of functionality to them, we could have something very special.
