Hello everyone,
I would like to suggest a new squad command focused on defending buildings and objectives.
One of the current issues with AI soldiers is that when the player orders them inside a building, they often gather too closely together or choose positions that are not ideal for defending the area. This can make the entire squad vulnerable to grenades, artillery, explosions, or a single enemy entering the building.
My suggestion is to add a dedicated command called something like “Defend Building” or “Defensive Positions.”
When this command is activated, AI soldiers would automatically spread out and occupy logical defensive positions inside the structure. For example:
- Some soldiers would guard doors and entrances.
- Others would take positions at windows overlooking important approaches.
- Some could cover stairways and hallways.
- Machine gunners could choose windows with wider fields of fire.
- Riflemen could cover secondary entrances.
- Engineers could remain near important access points.
The goal would be to make the squad behave more like a real defensive unit rather than a group of soldiers standing in the same room.
Benefits of this feature:
- Improves AI survivability.
- Makes defending objectives more tactical and enjoyable.
- Reduces situations where an entire squad is eliminated by a single grenade.
- Creates more realistic military behavior.
- Encourages players to use buildings and defensive positions effectively.
- Makes squad commands more meaningful.
- Helps new players who may not know the best positions for every soldier.
- Makes AI feel smarter and more responsive to the battlefield.
This feature would be especially useful in urban maps where building defense is a major part of gameplay. Instead of constantly repositioning each soldier manually, players could issue one command and allow the AI to organize itself in a sensible way.
Since Enlisted focuses heavily on squad-based combat, improving how AI soldiers defend buildings would enhance one of the most important aspects of the game and make battles feel more immersive and strategic.
Thank you for reading.
