Darkflow will I get a cookie for this? (spoiler: no more squads to grind)

TLDR version first, so in general I just maxed out every single squad in the entire game, I have no more levels to get XP for and I basically played with all squads from level 1 to the very last one (didn’t skip a single level with gold).

Actually this is my 2nd time I have maxed out all squads in the game (did it once before Pacific update), but this time I managed to get all my “active” soldiers and weapons to maximum level as well.

All of this took me only 20 months :smiling_imp: of active playing almost everyday, of course with Elite Battlepass, Premium Account and later with help of XP boosters (+both Stalingrad and Pacific premium packs).

If I were a pure F2P player with this heavy grind I don’t think I would be halfway through to where I am now and probably wouldn’t even bother to try that.

Some boring stuff a.k.a. proof of max levels

My initial plan was to make some pictures with every single side, something like this…

… but It was taking me so long to create just this one that I decided to make a video of me just clicking through every squad, if by any chance anyone would want to see it for themself.

A warning tho, it’s very boring
Enlisted all squads in all campaigns at maximum level - YouTube

Even more boring stuff a.k.a. some numbers and wall of text

To give some context I have exactly 79 Rank 5 soldiers (+7 Medics in Stalingrad / Pacific) per side in all campaigns, that adds to a total of 976 soldiers, all extra lower rank troops are not included. Majority of my soldiers are Tier I and rest Tier II, for me there is no need to use Tier III soldiers, their cost to train is just too high and their basic perk is not worth it.

I like to keep it equal everywhere so there are:
12 Riflemans
10 Assaulters
10 Engineers
9 Machine Gunners
7 Medics (Stalingrad / Pacific)
6 Snipers
6 AT Gunners
6 Tankers
5 Radio operators
5 Attacker pilots
4 Fighter pilots (don’t know why I keep so many :stuck_out_tongue:)
4 Flametroopers
2 Mortarmans

It would be “too easy” to just pick a random perks for all these soldiers and get fast to Rank 5, oh no, not with me, over time I decided what perks I want on all of them and was grinding them hard, sometimes really hard.

For Riflemans / Assaulters / Engineers / Machine Gunners / Medics / Snipers / AT Gunners / Radio operators / Flametroopers I only picked 4 specific perks, the 5th one is a random one, but the real grind started with the rest, Tankers / Attacker pilots / Fighter pilots / Mortarmans for them I pick 5 specific perks.

Getting this 5th perk sometimes was driving me nuts when I had to reset for the 10-15th time the last 12800 xp rank and grind it again, because game decides to give me same unwanted perks over and over again.

Did you max all planes , tanks, optimal perks for flametrooper, assualter, tank loader, gunner, commander, etc etc if so impressed!

There are spoilers if you didn’t click them yet.

So far I only changed one perk for the new one for Mortarmans (extra ammo) but didn’t yet for Flametroopers, maybe later after I get some cards for free levels in Battlepass.

I have my perk picks, are they “optimal”, I don’t know. I went for more practical way to not choose perks that can not be used in some situations, like faster reload for Tankers if they switch seats automatically when you exit vehicle or lose crew, anyway it really could be useful only for IS-2.

So how many battles all together? Probably 7-8k?

Close, but less than that.

Just kidding, but some numbers here can be a bit shocking for some players, still it’s 20 months (or even 21) of very active playing.

I must say that a safe bet would be over 500 battles are pure custom 1v1 matches just to complete daily tasks, these are quite short one and add to the pile, so take a look

20€ for a full year premium account with discount … not expensive but ill never buy a premium squad at 50€ they can dream about that

Not this time, but earlier I bought 2 years of premium time for 50%, still left with over 500 days, and no, I don’t buy premium squads, the few I have are from Stalingrad and Pacific packs that I bought.

incredible!
Did you enjoy leveling the mortar squads?
Which squad in all campaigns/sides included was the toughest?
The 5-star soldiers, do they have “opitmal rolled perks” ( 17 - 17 - 17 for Rifleman I etc)?

About mortar squads, it all depends on the campaign and maps, in Stalingrad e.g. I leveled up the squad mostly using just rifles as the map design don’t really let you use effectively the mortar itself, but I have there a huge XP boost because of the bought pack. For other campaigns it just took some time, was it enjoyable… not really, after I finished the squads and Mortarmans I only take mortar squad “for a walk” to complete daily tasks and I do it in custom battles vs AI, well I haven’t used in battle the big mortars yet.

Thoughest squads to grind were… of course Pacific tanks, especially Japan paper tanks, but really on both sides as their cannons are just super weak with little or none HE fillers, so you basically need to hit enemy troops directly to kill them or shoot them with MGs. Mostly all fighter planes without anti-ground armament like bombs, but yet again Japan first fighter is super hard to grind as there are almost no enemy aircrafts around in Pacific battles (good luck shooting infantry with these pew-pew it has), I grinded it in Lone Fighters mode hunting enemy planes, but for that you need to be a decent pilot.

And for last soldiers, I’ll be honest, I don’t care at all what my soldiers Mobility/Vitality/Weapon handling points are as I long time ago decided not to hunt for top most expensive perks like +35% vitality. I don’t need it, I only carry 1 Medkit per soldier and use it when I’m in downed state, never to just heal myself (unless there is a medkit box around). BTW are the top perks really that “optimal”, for me not, all my infantry use these 3 perks: +100% stamina regeneration speed / +75% medpack usage speed / +12% firearm reload speed, the 4th perk depends on a class: Engineer +40% resources available for buildings / Sniper +100% breath holding time while aiming / Medic +50% uses of medical bag / for the rest +100% health regeneration amount out of combat, 5th perk is random, but I avoid this one +50% throwing range of grenades, it would mess up my aim with grenades that I kind of mastered (almost). Tankers / Pilots they have their own sets of perks of course.

No! and no cookie for you!

Doesn’t count then

I’m a f2p player playing since closed alpha and I don’t have a single campaign maxed out

Sure, I’m not playing as much as you but still

im-not-pwetty-hahaha-no

Im doing this with the japanese and it takes quite a while so I don’t blame him for not doing it for every campaign. That should be something he looks at doing at some point though, unless he is hedging on it being changed whenever they do the veteran training stuff lol

Depends when he grinded them. Back in early OBT, they were able to single-haltered entire waves.

As I said before, I don’t need these “top tier” perks as they are not really that super good, at least not for me, since I carry only one medkit and use it to get on my feet when downed why do I need e.g. vitality perk for 16 points, it won’t save me from the worst rifle anyway, at best I can survive just one more SMG bullet with it or sometimes Semi-auto rifle.

The other thing is, over time I’ve already chose my perks for tankers in 3 or 4 campaigns and then new perks arrived at some point making a mess to regrind them again. Do I really need a faster loading time for my loader in most tanks (could be only useful for IS-2)? The answer is no, if you get hit first and lose some crew you already are at a disadvantage, when you are left with only 2 tankers in your tank no bonus for faster loading the gun will be working, it’s all about who deals the damage first, no matter full crew with all bonuses or just 1-2 man in a tank. That is why I am more towards perks like faster extinguishing fire of the vehicle and similar fixing your tank perks, also I like faster switching seats when I lose my crew, it really saved me quite a few times.

For planes you don’t need more stamina, you need faster recovery of the blackout, with this perk even if I use all my pilot’s stamina I don’t lock my controls as I do without this perk and can continue tight turn after my enemy, it’s all about the most practical perks not the top ones.

BTW getting perks that require less points than a top ones is harder to do as game usually gives you these most expensive perks first so you need to reset them and grind again more often.

A lot of words just to say you’re coping
