Danger in the air!

It’s very normal for games to have different kind/strength of radio call-in.
From Verdun/Tannenber to RO2/RS2, to DOI, to HLL and so on.
But in those games, there’s a central role like Squad leader or Team Leader to manage all call-in to not causing internal mis communication…

This is amazing! Great news, will definitely make the game less repetitive.

But i have 1 concern and something that you must test before release and fix if its not working probably.

The plane models, they must be not broken, or to put it simply the bombers should not be IL2s or a plane that cannot be taken down.

Because if we do the math:
You get the notification that bombers are incoming, you must first lose your squad, spawn in a fighter plane. You already have around 1 min 30 sec left.

then you must intercept them, so flying to them - another 30 sec. You have a minute left before they drop their bombs.

If youre in a plane like BF109F1 - you have 60x 20mm shells. If the models are not fixed and will be able to soak up too much damage, you will just run out of ammo and time trying to shoot them down.

In War Thunder my BF109F1 kills a bomber in a few shots, its wings tear off, it is set on fire. I really hope it will be similar here too, because if they soak up too much damage because the models are bad and dont work, these bombers will be very frustrating.

another question, would that attack have friendly fire? because now it is normal for someone to request an artillery attack at the point and his teammates can pounce on him calmly and with the advantage that the artillery will only affect the defenders and not the attackers, that is, at least if a teammate gets inside from the artillery or bombardment of an ally, it should be incapacitated since if it is invulnerable it would be OP

agree since you most likely also dealing with their planes as well. But on the other hand it comes for both teams

Excellent. Fighter and radio operator squads really needed that.

What is the area of effect of such a strike? Bigger than arty?

If so… maybe it would be time to make playable field larger (less grey zone).

I also hope buildings will keep protecting infantry (even if unrealistic) because if those strikes don’t hurt friendlies at all, I see another huge exploit here. But what do I know, eh. 🤷

Inb4 both teams call in airstrike at once and the two formations crash into each other mid-air.

@1942786 Hi, I posted a bug mentioning that one the the recent mini updates is now causing significant drops in FPS when planes drop bombs or launch rockets… I think this has happened before, you fixed it, but now it’s back again.

I’m on PS5 but think it might affect other platforms, also with air strikes can’t imagine if this wasn’t fixed.

I recall it was in Tunisia, then Normandy, but never noticed this in Moscow.

May we get some SPAA like the Wirbelwind?

I love this idea! I can’t wait to see how it plays out.

I’d like to see more objectives for aircraft, like attacking artillery positions or ships outside the battle zone to reset or delay the enemies artillery calls

As long as the damage Modells of planes are the way they are its a bad idea to implement something like this. There is no way you can shoot those bombers down, when even a P38 takes sometimes more than 3 ammo loads to down.
If this was WarThunder where i could shoot of wingstips and so on fine but this isnt the case here. its just flying bunlers.

I like the idea of calling AI bombers as it will make AA guns and fighters perform their original purpose(especially AA guns). However, I am a bit worried because allowing radio operators to call bombers might make things complicated as few already mentioned(timer issue, etc)
I have a question. Did the fighter pilots call bombers?
Yes → maybe allow fighter pilots to call them instead? (cool time must be long, and the fighter must meet certain requirements(xp earned by fighter) to call bombers)
No → Alright, let the radio operators call bombers.

I already always run radio squads for the smoke.

This is just an added bonus, although I’ll have to see how powerful it is before I use it for anything but the smoke.

will the ai gunners be an improved version of the one we had a long time ago?

I also run a radio squad but I would prefer more unique abilities like smoke. Such as incendiary mortar strike to deny areas perhaps? More explosive though…meh

Exactly. I once tested with a P-38 player turned out that 20mm MG151 takes 10000 rounds to shoot down a P-38. A joke even for those who have never played Warthunder

It’s an exciting news for all the fighter plane entousiast.

Finally, the air domination will be different than just “spam bombs and rockets, go to the reload and repeat” and fighter will have a purpose.

What a time to be playing! I can’t wait to test it.
