I feel like a lot of damage to the community has been done due to the merge. I’ve seen enemy teams constantly spawn in stuarts and halftrakcs just to get one shot by Panzer 3s and 4s. Like imagine booting up the game as a beginner and seeing this tech tree and you bring in your few squads and a half track just to get stomped on by a german on the enemy team with Panzer 4 F2s, Bf 110s, MG34s etc. Like there is no fun in that. I fear people will play matches get stomped loads and decide this game isn’t for them possibly never coming back.

It is absolutely normal that some people are unhappy with the changes.
But overall - it is a change for a better 
10- 20 % old players will leave the game… but many new players will come at their place

But when the new players come in and use the tier 1 and get absolutely stomped by tier 3 players I don’t think there is much to incentivise them sticking around.

No new player will last a week.
When I started, most early weapons did reasonable damage (a bolt action body hit was almost a guaranteed kill) and were actually accurate and in Moscow you would maybe face some early mg’s, mediocre smgs and early semi autos, which meant you had a mighting chance. You had crappy interwar tanks fighting crappy early ww2 tanks at most. Because of multiple campaigns the stackiness of each single one varied with time too, so you’d get ultrastomped sometimes, youd have decent matches a lot, sometimes you’d stomp.
Right now, even officially, new players can face some absolutely hilarious things that are in BR3. And allegedly people are going to 4 or 5 even. Hell, I personally have seen a T-60 get DELETED by a King Tiger
I have no idea how anyone new is supposed to enjoy themselves when they can face Assaulter 4 super soldiers with perks making them tank damage like it’s nothing, not flinch when being hit, revive instantly, etc
And lets not forget some of the most egregious fomo/premium squads also get built in perk for even more hp and can be spammed in BR1, where you can literally tank those nerfed-to-ground BR1 bolt action hits like its nothing

I wanted to recommend this game to my friends for 2 years now, it’s still in a state where they will leave before even reaching BR3 and true shitshow of current system
Just wait 2 weeks (generous estimate) for everyone that didn’t quit to get their loadouts ready with shit UI we have. Let me give You a glimpse of near future:
-high BR is sweat, everyone already knows it here, not many will stay there - if they will, they will 4-stack making it more sweaty
-cue exodus to low BR, where there are already impact and granade launchers spammed, sprinkle in some mines, HMG (at least granade launchers counter it somewhat), and airstrikes (with shit AA and few good planes)
That’s already not a welcoming enviroment, and You can add to that BR3 gamblers that will desert all hight BR just to play at low BR with their KV-1
This game is still not new player friendly - and you maybe didn’t notice as many of us here are maxed, but the grind is increased (but muh we don’t have to grind 5 capmaings of germans - nobody was forced too, manypeople played just one because grind was already bad, now it’s even worse)

Remember how new players deal with the insane grind in War Thunder. This game may take longer for such players to grind till they get their first Tiger or any iconic weapon like PPSh, Thompson, STG, etc with the silver earning and stuff.
Sure only one time grind but of course they are going to inflate the numbers anyway besides veterans going to club them by intentionally having low BR gear where the difference between a new player and a veteran being experience in the game mechanics.
First game today with all BR3 gear. OOPS ITS ALL BR5 AGAIN.
Again, why can a SINGLE gun put you on par with all Conders, all FG42, all StG44, all Tiger teams?
You think any new player can play against this? I was the only one on the team that actually got any real score, rest of the team was just getting mulched as they desperately tried to do anything with their unpgraded bolt actions and random assortment of middling crap gear

That is a skill issue. I’m sorry. I can bring any tier equipment I want (gun wise) into a tier 5 match and hold my own. It’s not hard. Learn to shoot and aim.

Why are you harassing at BR 1 vs BR 3 ? 
Victory is a team work, it is obvious that a player with Panzer II will not kill KV-1, but still - he can help his team to achieve victory by building rally points, capping enemy sectors, marking enemies and so on 
To prove you wrong. When I get home in a few hours I’m going to bring all T1-2 equipment with me and plop a T5 tank there to force me into T5.

We aren’t talking about you tho. We are talking about the future players who aren’t experienced coming up to play while others want to club and easy matches. First impressions are extremely important.
I bet first games are still in full bot lobbies anyway. Which makes everything even way worse. The game looks completely dead and extremely simple.
Who cares about your score? I racked up more score as BR3 only player than 3 or 4 next best teammates combined. Doesn’t mean the match was even remotely winnable or even fun. It was infuriating getting mulched by the best weapons in the game while using crap. Panzerfaust 60 doesnt even reliably penetrate sides of the king tigor, not unless you go almost perpendicular.
I wouldn’t mind loosing games if it was a fun, even match. Its just a firehose of bullshit which you 5 minutes in know there is physically nothing you can do to win. Capping a single zone after 15 minutes of desperate fight feels like winning the game. And then you get 150 tickets for it and just want to uninstall

This means nothing as 90% of players are still dogshit, and there are still bots in most games.
The gap between top 1-2 players to 3rd one can be anywhere from 2x to 5x.
Score also is meaningless, kill one airstike and be top 2 even if you don’t even play for rest of match.
Hell, i had games where i got 2k score in first 2 minutes, only to no one come close to it at the end of match.
1v1 me or any decent player with your shit bolties and then you can talk shit, right now You are emberrasing yourself like 90% of people who think camping in tiger means they are hot shit

Bombs had the radius of a nuke and could kill half the team in one run

I stuck it out when planes didn’t have a cooldown timer at beginning of matches

I stuck it out when radio squads didn’t have a limit to how many active arty strikes/bomber runs could be activate at one time.

I stuck it out when axis Tunisia was horrible playing experience when campaign first arrived due to everyone playing allied.

I stuck it out when rifle nades were more OP then they are now.
So the moral of the story. You either like the game and stick to it, get better, while it’s still in open beta. Or just leave and find something else. It’s that easy

Same and those things still weren’t as egregious as Tier III kit being forced against KTs or IS-2s
Like imagine you cut for a lower weight class only to be thrown into a match with someone two classes up swinging sledgehammer like fists into your welterweight ass
You’re deliberately given a losing hand because you kit for a specific BR and have a very good chance of being pulled up to fight against things you cannot compete with on an even field. Doubly so when its end game tanks just vaporizing everything with HE at that point firearms don’t even matter since you cannot deal with the enemy armor.

Merge was a chance to change the game, i was hoping it would bring more players, i wanted to play with friends but was unable to recommend with the state the game was in
The stick with it mentality only works so long, when game is bleeding most of new players, and old ones keep going away
You realize when enaugh people leave there will be no one to play with? I guess You prefer playing with bots anyway
Instead of growing the game is shrinking, why invest more time and money into sinking ship. I’ll keep playing but my hopes are gone
