I think the D-Day map needs some improvements. The map is great when the attackers get the first capturing point, but after some people died and people dont get the first flag, the MG42s are able to attack the spawns and the attackers have no chance to win. I think there should be a bit more cover near the spawn boats.
They have a lot of chances to win, all they have to do is think instead running straight into machinegun fire. From my of perspective as one of those MG operators is that spawn protection should last long enough for you to get into first cover.
anytime i play this map i cant even get through the first row of hedgehogs because its full of snipers with mounts that you can barely see (unless you have a scope) and mg/artillery fire that annihilates you. they need to make the first point easier, the map is just unfun when attacking
If they make the First point easier it will have no sense for Germany players. In 90% situations when US gets through the beach they have almost guaranteed win.
So the Germans need to stop them on first point as long as possible. And maybe it will seem wierd to you but good defense also requires a lot of coordination and covering different sectors of The beach.
In CBT the German team lost that map nine times out of ten. I’m not sure what’s changed, but perhaps the American team needs to get its shit together, and actually go for the objectives in a coordinated strike.
well, that’s the whole point of this map, isn’t it? To maximize carnage and kinda copy Saving Private Ryan. Obvius what they were going for. So what did you expect lol? That’s why devs placed a lot of MG nests, and left it all open. I agree tho, poundage on D-Day can get messy. 2 arty squads spamming(3+ is impossible to deal with), mgs, snipers, tanks. But I’ve won that map easy as US side, and during CBT US would win nonstop lol like 100% of times. So I bet it’s just a question of time, and US side players grinding to a good level. It’s disadvantage US, but hey, that’s the point.
I got 70 MG kill in a match last night, I kept thinking to myself, Why are you guys running right up the middle and getting mowed down? I started feeling bad for them.
All those fixed MG’s are relatively easy to dismount with small arms and/or tank gun fire - the Stuart is really good at doing it since it’s gun is very accurate (of not overly powerful!).
but like @Zenith said - Allied teams need to STSO and do something other than go straight ahead - go to the flanks - there are relatively covered pathways on both sides.
Also learn to blow holes in the concrete walls - there are sections where 1 expl pack will bring them down.
Basically it’s a teamwork game - if a few squads (2-3) work each flank and the rest keep the axis pinned at the 1st obj then the scales tip[ allied pretty quickly
Ultimately the whole map probably needs more balance but that first point as an attacker is utterly infuriating. To make a blanket statement that the attackers just need to think cannot fairly be made. I dont see anyone talking in chat so I am assuming you cannot talk to coordinate and If all of the attackers took to the edges then that would cause other issues. On top of that all squads don’t have access to smoke grenades unless you have made a point to get them with logistics (which I do like that system) so the map needs to be balanced in such a way as to not require loads of smoke screens.
So, what in your opinion is the solution, other than what has already been suggested?
I don’t use smoke grenades and very rarely see them used at all - but am still pretty confident on the map as allies.
There is only text chat at the moment - but even with that limitation it is not difficult to FLANK!!
just do it - you don’t need permission!
And if you find yourself on a flank with lots of other people and think you’d be better on the other flank then go there when you next respawn.

Its relatively easy to get off form the beach if you even think little capturing first bunker not easy if defender knows what its doing!

The Axis team can do it. Why not the Allied team? If the allied team even remotely gets their act together they roflstomp the German teams as the entire map beyond the first point is in favor of the attackers.
All that was already said but as a player who is using random matchmaker and thus ending on US side fairly often I can say, that first of all US in D-day needs to start using their heads before having any right to complain. I said it hundred times already and I will say it again… D-day worked just fine in CBT, even more it was in favour of allies despite axis was still having ability to use engineers and block holes in bunkers.
MGs? …You can shoot them down EASILY… getting mowed down on spawn? Not true, my snipers ALWAYS reach sniping spot when spawning… you just can´t run straight into the enemy fire. Too long distance from the beach?.. Just build rally points on flanks. Almost none of the allied teammates does these basic and cheap tactics… Instead, they just complain about german bias on the end instead.
