It doesn’t seem possible to squad up with my brother who plays on pc (I’m on xbox) if not why advertise as cross play? No one cares who they are playing against all anyone cares about in cross play is to be able to play with freinds on other platforms. Am I right here or am I just not doing it correctly?

Crossplay was disabled because many complained about it.
You can not invite each other to join a lobby, but you can press start at the same moment, then it may be that you are made together.
