Country Selection

Not gonna lie, Pretty disappointing to see the Americans in the Tunisia campaign given how little they contributed to the North African campaign in the first place but do i really need to play through them to get to British units…

Can we not just have a country selection option where I can have a complete line up of Commonwealth forces instead, I didn’t hang out waiting to play Tunisia to play American units

You may be confused with the logos as the Amercain star is showing.

Allies are the British and Axis are Italians.

How little was the US contribution on the Africa campaign? In this case Tunisia.
?

Not confused at all

I load up today after the update to find my favorite units gone and replaced with American units.

Pretty content to cease playing again, pretty big let down really.

Other than becoming track grease for Rommels Panzers the US took no part in the major battles of the N/A Campaign.

It was a Commonwealth affair much the same as Stalingrad was a Russian affair

“Operation Torch” saw the USA have a little taster of the North African campaign.

Yes hence the disproportionate representation in this campaign… as usual

Irritating

You may be confusing “North Africa” with “Tunisia” - it is true one is a subset of the other, so perhaps understandable for someone not actually properly familiar with the history.

90,000 troops landed in Torch - approximately 70,000 of them were American, and some British troops wore American uniforms and a couple of RN ships flew the “Stars and Stripes” - Churchill thought the French would be less likely to fire on Americans than on British.

By the time the campaign reached Tunisia the British 1st army had 2 British Corps, 1 French Corps, and 1 American Corps (of 4 divisions) - so there were plenty of Americans involved.

Your slur about US troops is also complete nonsense - might as well say the 8th army was only axle grease for Rommel too - since they lost many more battles, and far more men and equipment to him than the Americans did.

Yes i understand the excuse they use to include America, its boring

if were going to pretend Normandy was an an American affair in this game why can we not have a separate British campaign or at least allow me to eliminate American units from my line up… its boring and overdone

Excuse??

America contributed 2/3rds the troops for Torch, and 20-25% for Tunisia, and they get 1 squad and 1 plane so far in the campaign.

Also America provided all of hte air cover at Torch, and most of it in Tunisia via the 12th airforce.

You are a bit of a jerk really - impressive effort to get onto my ignore list in only 52 minutes of forum membership.

ETA: And just before (or maybe not, cos I see you’ve made a reply I’m not going to bother reading) you go and whine some more about me being an American fanboy or some such ignorant content - I’m in New Zealand and I am intimately familiar with the progress and characteristics of the war in North Africa, which is part of NZ military lore.

Yes woohoo the tourists have arrived to take the glory after the fighting was done.

You’ve obviously not loaded up since the update.

Could care less what you think champ… was looking forward to this as a Commonwealth campaign but as usual…

Yes cool story champ.

North Africa is certainly not lost on an Australian who had family in the 9th Division…

There was more american before the open beta and now it has been reversed, there is like 70% british so what’s the problem ?

The problem I thought was clear.

I’d rather not play boring American units at all.

CBT was quite good in the sense I was able to rid them from my line up all together… at the cost of having to play smaller specialist units…

Could have added India, NZ, South Africa, Ethiopia but no… let’s stick to boring

What would Ethiopia do in Tunisia? This is not East African Campaign.
You can get rid of them after few Battles.

Согласен. Заодно, выбор стран позволил бы разнообразить игру и арсенал.
Впрочем, вряд ли разработчики будут так напрягаться, чтобы делать по паре независимых веток развития на сторону для кампаний.

What annoyed me the most was that they had already made a British sniper unit with a British sniper rifle and now they are replacing it with the same boring American sniper we’ve already seen in Normandy? They really thought the Lee Enfield sniper was OP while at the same time they are including 500kg bombs already at level 11?

Maybe because Enfield Mk.IV as starting Sniper rifle is not best decision at all? Because it has 10 round mags and can be reloaded really quickly because it changes entire magazine?
You get bomb on Lvl 11, but you already have good fighter on Lvl 3 as Allies.

The sniper II at level 15 is also an American sniper rifle, that would have been the perfect spot to include the Lee Enfield sniper. A level 11 bomber should have been something with a smaller payload, say 100kg bombs, let the 500kg bombs come in at level 29 or something.
