I’ve been reading up on and watching a lot of videos about the Vichy French airforce during Operation Torch and after doing so now I want a Vichy French premium unit in Tunisia, my question is since we already have Americans in Tunisia could a French Hawk 75 premium squad be implemented and work in Tunisia without being to ridiculous? I know it’s armament is very lackluster but hell we have the U-2 Biplane in game so it wouldn’t be the worst premium aircraft. How would you guys feel about it being a premium squad?
Vichy france surrendered before Tunisia, the rest stayed or joined the allies
Ah so it wouldn’t work, thanks for the reply
Enlisted has already taken some liberties with historical accuracy, on occasion being rather extreme. Therefore I wouldn’t be against the “Battle of Tunisia” including squadrons and weapons found elsewhere in Africa around the same time period.
However, giving the Hawk 75 to the allies would be more realistic considering many Vichy pilots defected to the allies along with their equipment following the dissolution of the Vichy French forces. And that’s beside the fact that the already-existing Free French Air Force in Africa also used the Hawk 75 among other similar aircraft.
Apart from the Hawk 75, there were actually quite a few aircraft in Africa flying in French roundels around the time. Two that I would like to see myself are the Dewoitine D.520 and Potez 631.
Your idea could still work, if the devs give the option to have Americans/British vs the French on Africa maps this would work
I think a vichy premium squad would make sense, specially since the progression trees are going to be combined. But I think that the plane that would be more plausible is the Dewoitine D.520. Gaijin already has the plane with vichy markings. Also it was present during the liberation of France with luftwaffe markings (even if used for training, it participated in aerial combat AFAIK, so not the most absurd idea to have it over normandy).
But there is a new campaign coming, if they plan on doing france they might save the french aircraft for that one.
