(controversial) The "unlock/progression" based matchmaking is a bad idea. What we have now is good

(TLDR for those who dont know) the devs are planning on changing matchmaking so you are matched up with people of similar progression as you.

As somebody who has been slightly ahead of the curve with unlocks because i have been no-lifing the game. I can understand how it must be FRUSTRATING to new players when a stuka comes by on their first game and they get vaporized.

However for the overall feel of the game. Unless there is data to suggest people are leaving because of it (only the devs would have this) I thinks its important to mix in elite players with noobs. Tech tree and all.

Matchmaking right now is INSTANT. this is an INCREDIBLE quality of life part of the game. Anybody who has played war thunder knows the dark side of “matchmaking based on fairness”.

And sacrificing that lightning speed for “fairness” i dont think would help the game.

If anything exposing new players to guns and stuff they “want” might encourage them to buy premium to level up faster.

I’d rather have a matchmaker based on PLAYER STATS, so that I don’t spend whole matches being target practice for people who apparently play shooters H24 and consistently instakills me in milliseconds after visual contact.
THAT’S something that spoils the experience far more than being wiped out by a bomb every now and then.

Assuming you are playing squads, even if you are not great at the game there’s heaps of ai for you to shoot. Up to 1 in 9 are a player so there should be plenty for you to kill and have fun

AI chicken feed makes up for it though

On paper, you’re right; yet plenty of times that’s not the case.

i dont have any problem joining match in warthunder at any rank in realistic batles except asault mode defense vs ai
but everything else its just match in 5-10 seconds

I agree totally! I think that the intent should be to ensure an even skill level, but rather an even skill distribution.

One of the good things about the squad-based gameplay is that even with the most basic equipment you can still contribute, picking off the AI and all, and in any case weapons balance is good enough that even with a basic rifle you’ve got a fair chance to take down a more highly-leveled player.

But if the main complaint is about planes and tanks then I really don’t get it to be honest, on many maps they often are little more than a distraction, and not every player needs to be able to take them down. If your team has one engineer willing to play AA for a bit, or one descent tanker, then you’ve got no problem.

Rather than ensuring that all player are at rank 12 or whatever, which would make queuing miserable, the goal should be to ensure that there’s a roughly even number of veterans and new players on each team. For instance, if you’ve got 4 players at rank 12, 3 at rank 9, 5 at rank 7, etc all the way down, the goal should be to divide them evenly. That way each team has roughly equivalent capabilities.

i compleatly disagree.

many of us that are at end tier, are the reasons why majority of first players drops entirely from the game.

it gets a bit harder for us at “end tier” as we will probably have to tryhard and use most cheesy tactics just to win, but it’s a small sacrifice that many of us are willing to make for the own good of the game.

and the current system, where the majority of players stomps “noobs”, doesn’t bring “good” anything at all.
outside your progression that has been barely earned as it’s barely a match of competition when you fight the majority of your opponent that they do not have clue on what they are doing. ( nor have the equipment to compete in the first place )

skill is a better indicator than progression

once you figure out hipfire the game changes completely

just a matter of time before they will increase recoil there. than what?

If the playerbase is large enough, this will still be a thing with the matchmaker.

Which is a bad thing. players should not feel forced to pay to get anywhere, or to have a fun time.

There are

Uh no. Countless of people said they left because they got pitted against top tier players with their stock bolt action rifle squads.

It would.

  1. war thunder was massive and had horrible wait times

  2. its a free to play game its not a charity the devs need to make money or the game shuts down

  3. prove it , a few forum posts aint it.

  4. “countless” forum posts

  5. how is waiting around for 2-5 minutes for a match good vs some whining on the forums?

War thunder also has a million different gamemodes

Making money =/= frustrating players into paying. They are earning massive amounts of money.

There are dozens of forum posts. On my youtube channel I get dozens of comments about it as well, and I hear the same happening to many other content creators, as well as concerns from CC to CC about the issue.

Implementing this matchmaker would not increase queue time to 2-5 minutes, lmfao, unless you make it so 99% of your equipment matches with other people. Maybe +30% queue time?

right now the only person I see whining is you. If you want to stomp newbies, go play another game. I welcome this change.

Wait they’re making a matchmaker? I haven’t heard anything about this

That is not unfair. If you buy your way to the top, expect to not understand all of the mechanics.

It does define who would have a fair chance against someone else IF their skill is roughly equal, meaning that players have to get good in order to win, instead of being lucky and having better gear on average for their team.

Dying to someone who clearly outplayed you is much better as you learn from it than dying to someone who just has +35% health, tanked your shot and returned fire with a MG42 or something else that’s top tier because they got the top tier gear.

I literally stopped playing Enlisted because it got frustrating playing along side noob players. The moment I stop being a tryhard, the enemy gets to the points, setup defences and also a couple of spawn points and makes it impossible to play out forcing me to spawn a Stuka or 3 E and see out the rest of the match for the sake of my sanity.
And some weapons in the game make it difficult for the new players too. Like T-60 vs Pz II - not an advantage for German players when they don’t know what they are doing, PPD being OP due to small recoil and rof in tiny maps, MG-13 being unlocked early and planes(the obvious one).

I would really push the devs for a matchmaking system. It’s a win-win for both new and veteran players. I might have a harder time getting kills or being cheesy but I can atleast play alongside players who have a clue of what’s going on.

M8, read, thanks. If you get outskilled, you learn, and get better. Getting out-equipped is dogshit.

I agree, the game needs a LOT of improvement as it states
