I’m sure it’s been thought of, but I want to throw my non-existent opinion weight behind the idea of a command wheel for AS (artificial stupidity) controlled soldiers. Short press of command button = “go here”. If you put the cursor over a control point or tank, the soldiers will move to that position.
Potentially, keep some context sensitive things here. If you are pointing at a tank, AT troops will attempt AT, that kind of thing.
Long press brings up a command wheel allowing more complex commands and replaces the (in my opinion) sub-optimal individual commands.
You could command an engineer to build something, command a machine gunner to cover a given approach, command a squad mate to throw a grenade in a room, that kind of thing.
For that matter, to simplify it; rather than having a slice of the wheel for each soldier, divide it by class and the nearest squad mate of a given class will follow the order.
Something needs to be done about squad command and control, I think.
