now, i’m no weapon expert or anything, although i suspect that you can actually penetrate human body with high caliber rounds,
i think it would be nice if you could kill two people with one shot,
AI very often align with each other in line, in that very moment i realize how much handy it would have become.
dunno how hard it would be to implement that in current damage system, collateral shots might deal less damage of course, as it’s slowing down through the body.
We lost something really good we used to enjoy before: rounds able to pierce certain materials, like wood.
It happened when they first released heavy mg buildables. Since those were bigger caliber, and have infinite ammunition, you can guess what happened to ppl trying to hide inside wooden houses.
It was exaggerated, but was really fun before HMG were added. Lmgs could pierce wood normally, and those hiding behind would receive reduced damage (bullets lost velocity by piercing walls).
I miss the feature. Had very tense moments in houses, were when I heard an enemy walking behind a door or a wall, I dumped my entire magazine in his general direction through the wall, and it sometimes worked.
It also worked with tank shells. I managed to explode a t34 using a pz3L (high velocity high piercing shells) by shooting… through an entire (tiny) house. (The t34 was marked).
Good times.
Nowadays, bread baskets and clay pots in Tunisia stop .45 smg bullets…
A small derail.
One day when I was playing BFV, I saw enemy behind some wood and I thought “shoot through wood, free kill” so I sprayed it with my SMG. It stopped all my rounds and I was like:
I was so used to shooting through things with rifle caliber bullets, that low penetration of pistol cartridge caught me with my pants down.
Kind of hilarious.
It was for the soviets in Moscow, it was removed from the battle pass shop quite a bit ago, it also does not go through multiple soldiers, only AT rifles do that.
It used to be unique due to its oneshot ability but now its a single shot mosin with 0 benefits, it even sounds the same…
Well that’s odd, because from what I remember, I could kill 2-3 soldiers with a single bullet, and depending on the range/luck, I could watch 3 soldiers get hit like a harpoon. However, the bullet speed is much slower when compared to normal rifles, making ranged engagements difficult. It’s not an easy gun to use, but it’s very strong with some practice.
I haven’t used the Berden for a number of months (because I don’t play as the soviets very often), so I’m not sure if changes were made from my original experiences with the weapon’s performance.
