Cheaters can now play in the grey zone

In a match today three cheaters could move their infantry into the grey zone and destroy our vehicles the moment they entered the map. Apparently the latest cheat software now not only allows them to use aimbot and wallhack but also to ignore the grey zone. They used hand held AT weapons so they were not guerillas nor saboteurs but clearly regular infantry units. They could even reach the end of the grey zone on our side.

You can drop AT weapons to the ground and redeploy with guerillas to pick them up. It is a unusual strategy but definitely not cheating

That is not what happened. They were moving around in the grey zone AFTER the front-line had already advanced further and they destroyed three vehicles one after the other IMMEDIATELY upon their entry on the map in the “safe zone”. Do not try and be an apologist for cheating and cheaters. Cheating is part of everything humans do, be it taxes, chess, checkers, sports and online gaming. The developers need to address this grey zone camping cheat which WE, the people in our household, have seen in several Enlisted matches.

I hate cheaters, but i also hate greyzone campers, so I am conflicted. To me greyzone tanks are just cheaters who don’t have to worry about getting banned.

I have seen what he is talking about they camp the tank spawns. I could not get a tank 50yards on one map and it was not a guerilla. But not a common tactic just starting to become one much like mining rally points. They need to put a 10 gold bounty reward for catching a cheater.

You really need to post the replay link as well as the players names.

You sure it wasn’t in the interim period before greyzones changes after an objective is taken?

give replay link. this could easily be guerillas or saboteur.

So when an object gets pushed back or moved up any enemies in the area can hold the grey zone from moving up for quite a while actually. Ive had it happen to me a few times and it’s super annoying.

Basically if your dog water team doesn’t clear out the area and the spawn points move they can literally sit there for another few minutes before the games moves the gray zone up which is pretty wild.

My only tip so to check the map before you spawn in or if youre already spawned in check your flanks and map before driving forward.

Ive also managed to destroy a tank today that just spawned in because my team were noobs that ignore their own objectives so when the enemy took it I was left on the 2nd floor of the factory and noticed the tank driving past it and got a easy kill.

No. The incident that led me to post this took place on the “Heilongjiang” map. The front had already moved from the airport building to the radio tower on the hill. My infantry group had been destroyed at the base of the radio tower hill and then I reentered the map in a vehicle behind the airport building in the “safe” “grey zone”.

The instant I entered my vehicle was hit by a hand held anti tank weapon from a regular army dressed Japanese soldier, close to him there was another regular army dressed Japanese soldier. My vehicle was taken out by these Japanese soldiers that were in the same group/squad and I took one of the Japanese soldiers out. Then I re-entered the match in another vehicle which was also instantly targeted by a Japanese soldier and I noticed that two of them were still in the area. They again took out my vehicle after hitting it with a hand held anti tank weapon and a TNT charge. I was not able to move maybe 10 meters from the moment I entered the match with my vehicles. I noticed the wrecks of several other vehicles from our side at the same spot.

I have since then experienced this “grey zone” attacking in other matches as well. At first I thought it was simply due to vehicles having no “spawn” protection upon entering the map and some sort of cheat allowing the cheater to stay and play in the “grey zone” even after the front has moved.

In our household several people play Enlisted. One account on the Xbox, one account on the PC. We have recently all experienced these weird “grey zone” attacks the instant we enter the map. Mostly on the PC but also on the Xbox, but far less on the Xbox.

At first we thought it was only against vehicles but since I posted this we have noticed that our infantry squads are now also being fired upon and killed the instant they enter the map in the “safe” “grey zone”. At first I thought that this might be a case of the developers removing the infantry squad invulnerability “spawn” protection but I have since then tested this and this invulnerability “spawn” protection is still in place when I try to kill enemy soldiers when they “spawn”.

What I have done to test this, is setup custom matches with no humans allowed, and me staying in the “grey zone” for as long as possible to attack enemy infantry squads and vehicles the moment they “spawn”. In such cases the enemy infantry squads all had the invulnerability “spawn” protection. In any event I could only stay in the “grey zone” for a few seconds before the game killed my soldiers. That was not the case for the cheaters in the matches I refer to, they clearly could remain playing in the “grey zone” without the game killing their soldiers.

Then I tested it in matches against human players. I intentionally stayed in the enemy area after the front-line had moved to see if I could also destroy several enemy vehicles in their “grey zone” before the game killed my soldiers: I could not the game would kill my soldiers too fast for that.

I also tested if the infantry squad invulnerability “spawn” protection no longer applied in human versus human matches: I could not instantly wound and kill enemy soldiers the moment they spawn, so this invulnerability “spawn” protection is still in place in human versus human matches.

Since then in several matches we have experienced our infantry squads being fired upon in the “grey zone” at the developer placed “match spawn points” (so not player built rally points) the moment they enter the map. In such cases the “enemy” player is simply waiting at the developer placed “match spawn points” to shoot and kill soldiers the moment they enter the map, apparently with no invulnerability “spawn” protection being active. How this cheat works I do not know and I also do not care. The developers need to address this. It is real and occurs on the PC and on the Xbox (with and without cross play activated).

On average I would say that 1 in 10 matches on the Xbox this sort of cheat is experienced and on the PC it is about 1 or 2 out of 10 matches.

Wall-hackers and aim-botters of course are far more common.

I rarely watch replays anymore to examine in detail what the cheaters do. I recently made an exception for a cheater on the “Heilongjiang” map which did something which was rather unusual. He specifically targeted every rally point I built. I checked the replay and he did not play the objective or even anything else, but instead kept going only for the rally points I built. Of course he knew exactly where they were, he was clearly using a wall-hack.

I will not waste may time to watch all the replays of all these cheaters and to report them only to see them return again and again.

It is futile.

The unpleasant truth that all game developers all need to face is that human versus human gaming is simply dead, with on average 30% to 70% of players in online matches making use of one form of cheat or another.

The battle against cheaters and cheating in online gaming has been lost a long time ago.

The only good way forward for good online gaming is simply human versus AI.

As for the “grey zone” issue, the best solution in Enlisted would simply be that developers instead of “killing” soldiers for being the “grey zone” would deactivate their ability to damage anything. In other words to not let players fire their weapons (including their melee weapons like knives etc.) when they are in the “grey zone”. If a player is then still able to use his weapons in the “grey zone” they are no doubt cheating. This solution would also be good for other reasons. Sometimes the front moves so fast that slow vehicles simply cannot get out of the “grey zone” fast enough to reach the new front line, or slow vehicles not being able to turn around and move at the edge of the “grey zone” fast enough before getting destroyed.

Mind you what I mean by “grey zone” is the area where your screen turns “grey” when you are in it, that can be either on your side of the map, or the enemy side of the map, or on the flanks of the map.

Deactivating the weapons in the “grey zone” would be an elegant solution for several problems.

You can destroy enemy vehicles in their “grey zone” with mortars and with aircraft as well as with vehicles.

Additionally most maps in Enlisted will not allow players a good field of view of to the objective from the “grey zone”. Turret-less vehicles are however forced to stay near in or near the “grey zone” because without a turret they simply cannot be anywhere near enemy infantry without getting destroyed without even the ability to fire back.

For this reason we for example no longer even use the premium Jagdpanther for example, it simply has no chance anywhere near enemy infantry. All turret-less vehicles are more or less forced to stay in their “grey zone” making them really a bad addition to Enlisted.

That is exactly what I refer to.

Yes I am going to publicly name and shame a hacker on a public forum so he can target me.

Great idea!
