Changes

So I took a step away from the game for roughly a month after a few weeks of playing the closed alpha. Originally, I absolutely loved the game and poured a few days into it in that short time. I recently came back and haven’t been able to play the game much, not because of a lack of time, but because of changes. While I do believe that many of the changes were good changes that take the game in the right direction, there are two changes that have destroyed my motivation to play this game. The first is the massive damage reductions. I can understand nerfing the mp40s damage since it was ridiculously strong, but now the mp28 takes 4-5 hits to kill. And theres nothing more annoying than using a bolt action and shooting a guy in the chest at point blank and they shrug it off like its nothing. So then you shoot them again and they go into a downed state cuz they have a medkit. Then one of the AI just shoots you.
The second is the movement speed reduction. While I do agree that the movement needed to be changed, the new movement is ridiculously slow and sluggish. The slower move speed also means that the AI are easily capable of hitting you now, which is a good thing, but they aren’t affected by bushes or trees being in the way. So every time I’m running through the woods I die 2-3 times from bots shooting me through bushes from 100 meters away, which is rather annoying.
Combining these two changes, the game is rather awful to play. Where before you had a fast paced game with fast time to kill, now we have a slow paced game with slow time to kill. Everyone camps and as a result every time someone steps into the open they get shot 5 times (because thats how many shots it takes to kill now). My suggestion is to change the movement speed somewhere between its current level and the old alpha level, and to change the damage back to where it was.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. The old movement speed allowed for movement-tech to be used in the game. Knife running, jump strafing, pogoing, all help with dodging and getting into unexpected angles. Now, that’s simply no longer an option.

IMO reducing movement speeds wasn’t necessary. Intertia needed to be added back in.

Honestly I just feel that the devs shouldn’t try to make this game into a full simulator style like red orchaestra or post scriptum, simply because the game can’t be like them with AI squads in game. The AI make the game something completely different. I feel like this game would be best as a semi-realistic game. Being somewhere on a realism scale between battlefield and these other mil sim style games. Its up to the devs what they want to do with the game, but the playerbase clearly loved the open alpha so trying to get rid of the things everyone loved in them is a terrible idea in my opinion.

Do people consider Red Orchestra to be a simulator? I played so much RO2 and loved it, still wish more games would have that aiming deadzone system. Something about it made getting kills feel so satisfying.

I hate when AI shoot through bushes and trees, and that I can’t move to an objective quick enough, like on the last obj in invasion (on germanys side), its always camped by SMGs, snipers, and tanks, plus you move slowly, so you can’t get there in time, I want to shoe horn in the issue of the new premium squads, they make the game un-enjoyable when facing them (which can be 2-4 squads on an objective), especially when armed with sub-par bolt actions. Also the PPK seems to be the best MG in game, seeing as I was killed by one from 50+ meters. Can’t enjoy the game when you’re being butt-rammed by OP SMG squads.

if anything there should be an arcade battle mode and ground realistic and even simulator like warthunder. i think that would be very welcoming to all players

I think thats leaning too much towards Warthunder, I think people play this to get away from it, something new and fresh

so there should only be one playable difficulty  I don’t think anyone’s
going to complain about having variety

Having a variety splits up the playerbase a lot. Especially if theres already a mode selection to choose the different game modes.

I would consider the Rising Storm/RO games “Semi Realistic”, not quite squad or PS levels of realism but still considered a hardcore shooter

I mean to me, there are 4 levels or realism: arcade, semi realistic, realistic, and simulator. I’d consider RO to be either a strong realistic or a low simulator.

I agree with your 4 levels i just wouldnt put RO on the same level of realism as Squad and Post Scriptum (Realistic), or Arma (Milsim)

Bruh I just want another RO game which includes the British, Americans, Germans, Italians, and Russians. The only other game similar to that is Rising Storm 2, and that devs next game is called '83.

Yeah I heard about their next game and I hope it turns out well, they have a certian “style” to their shooter games that i cant put my finger on.

I know that Hell Let Loose was made as a spiritual successor to RO, but its made by different devs and, they are still working on adding the Russians right now.

It’s most likely the pacing and the cool mechanic where your guns points in the direction of wherever your mouse is in-game. I really wish Enlisted did the same thing, tbh

That as well as the voice acting. Their is a reason the RO and Rising Storm games are nicknamed “PTSD Simulators”

True shit. I always played with the native languages enabled though, kind of breaks immersion hearing Germans and Soviets speak broken english lmao

I couldn’t have put it better myself specially about the movement, this is basically pulling words from how I initially felt without be able to word it into something.

For the German SMGs, I really didn’t know the lvl of the nerf they got until I go the chance to use them (since I’m strictly playing USSR), to me it was always that these are effective at mid range & to see them do literally no damage it left bad taste in the mouth although it’s the enemy’s weapon. This comes in line since I’m suffering (dating back all the way to Sept 21st when I got invited) from PPD (box/drum) not registering hit which is frustrating, with that & regardless that the PPD isn’t effective at mid ranges it leaves the PPD literally superior to every aspect specially in what the German SMG was previously good at (mid range).

It is the case since it basically combines what the German SMGs were known for before (good capabilities at mid range) & the power of PPD, it like looking at a PPD & solving its problems, regardless that the PPD have superior fire rate (which basically means some bullets are wasted) the PPK should be compared to PPD-34/38 (box) before comparing with (drum) since that comes way later at lvl 11. Even when compared to the (drum) it’s better as it can shoot at mid ranges & the ammo count factor diminishes once you have the ammo perk, also don’t forget that a squad comes equipped with it not just a single soldier compared to the default Assaulter squad.
