Changes to the Golden Chest

Agree to disagree…

I never called the gold chests “a scam”.

I don’t think gold chests are “a scam”.

I happen to have a way more nuanced take on the gold chests. You’d never grant me that though, of course, I’m just a communist after all.

I thought you didn’t want to debate this, make up your damn mind.

Because trying to describe the situation is an attempt to start a debate, lol.

But whatever. I’ve come to expect that whatever I say, you’ll twist it around in your head somehow. And you’ll completely change the meaning of it.

This is the last time I’ll ever respond to you. Because it’s always the same.

I am trying very hard right now…

You do realise that you are literally doing the exact same thing here in reverse…? I must hope that you have a sense of humour…

You haven’t walked back anything, even though you’re demonstrably in the wrong.

  1. “Bought seperately” is not a reasonable description of the contents within the chests.

  2. I haven’t called the gold chests a scam.

You’ve clearly decided, before things started, that this debate was about something else entierly, and no matter what I would say, you’d still object to it. Who is it that’s truly twisting reality…?

You were never interested in engaging fairly in the first place.

You know what they say in psychology about those saying:
“I’m not the problem, the problem is everyone else!”

Eheheh

Now it’s quick AI, lazy search. But I’ll let everyone decide if the symptoms fit the individual… :upside_down_face:

Well, the problem is, I’m not the only one. The people who have no problem with the gold chest simply have no need to endlessly argue with people who have no better argument than “it’s a scam; I’m entitled to the cosmetic because I already bought the squad.”

And it’s pretty obvious why these individuals are doing this. They want to manipulate the conversation to make it seem like the entire community shares this mindset.

But they have failed miserably at that, too. The things they want won’t happen. Devs probably just create a different order for premium cosmetics, or make them purchasable through regular appearance orders, but at a higher price.

I’m not the one who failed. :man_shrugging:

I see your point and agree to it in parts but I would regard it as the next logical step considering market based strategies. The principle is: You invested money into this game and the devs give something in return, to make buying premium squads appear worth your money.

To me (and many others) premium squads are worthless as I unlocked everything long ago and I only play these squads for the sake of variety. Now since their unique uniforms aren’t unique anymore premium squads lost this appeal. Why not compensate the owners of premium squads with something like the ability to use the customization options they unlocked by buying them for orders? This way premium squads remain attractive to be bought, even if their initial value of speeding up your grinding process and secondary purpose of offering variety has largely disappeared. Its the same principle as why developers keep adding soldiers to squads to make the performance gap between premium and TT squads not too big in favor of the TT, so that premium squads remain being an attractive option worth buying.

Also: Once you received a customization piece from the crate, what incentive do you still have to buy the squad belonging to it as well? You already paid for a crate or two to receive these uniform options which diminishes the attractivness of getting the premium squad as well, as you already hold significant parts of it’s value which don’t get compensated when getting the squad as well.

Adamnpee, yes you are right that “morally speaking” the devs can set a price for something in a free to play game to what ever hight they want - its their product, and they want to make money. This is obviously true.

But you have to see that people here are annoyed that every little piece of new mechanics that people were asking for is always met with new ways to milk the playerbase. People already owning prem squads - who already have supported the game with lots of money for once could get some returns from their investments. See it as long time veterans wanting at least once in a while to get some “thanks” from the devs.

Yes of course people should not feel entitled to own anything, but you must see that your opinion is unpopular with the majority.

These types of customisations were asked for by the community for a long time now, only to be met by yet another paywall.

I didn’t fail anything you dolt, you should know by now I’m a whale just as much as you are, and already bought all the premiums and cosmetics I needed

I’m just not delusional like you (it’s something you say to everyone, wanted to try saying it too)
And see what devs did, for what it is:

Something crass.

That ppl are gullible and want to waste their money with something as dumb as gambling is their own choice, got no problem with that.

What I hate, as I said, is the deterioration of the services provided by gaijin. Namely the removal of a choice based shop, for that gacha slop.

… you do know the money spent in a gold choice based shop, is just as valuable as the one wasted for those boxes, yes?
Knowing this, again I reiterate, what devs did is crass.

While on a forum we will never know the opinion of the majority as they do not care enough to engage on them. However, based on a recent post found here, the majority of people active here at the moment do share that opinion.

As an addendum: I salute your awesome bush camo squad but you’ve paid ~1000 gold for it. 2 pieces per soldier. A single squad, for a single campaign. Use that on a 9 man infantry rifle squad and you’ve to pay ~1600 gold. On a german rifle squad (which have 6 campaigns) you can spend up to 1890 gold per squad for a single campaign.

I regard these prices out of this world. While monetarizing your game via visuals and not ingame advantages is the way to go there still needs to remain some balance cost-value wise that players can regard as decent and not greedy. Reminds me of MWOs golden mech disaster where Piranha games announced $500 gold plated mech skins and faced a massive community backlash for it and is remembered as one of the biggest monetarization blunders when players argued that predatory monetization was insulting for a game that was ostensibly free-to-play.

And yes: You can easily reach those $500 also in Enlisted customizing your troops. While I understand the devs wish to monetarize more I think they’re crossing the rubicon with this.

That doesn’t make any sense at all. The GO system hasn’t been around for who knows how long. And those silver chests that came after it have been here for a while now. They already contain everything the GO system used to have. Plus, they aren’t being replaced by gold chests.

So it’s completely absurd that you’re suddenly bothered by something that actually has absolutely nothing to do with the introduction of the gold chests.

You are clearly very confused. Or simply dishonest.

I would like to know how this news was received in the Russian forum.

cool, however, i spent £150 on golden chests before receiving two pieces : /

playing gold chests like slot machines : )

good stuff

as close as we will get to it

just to be clear, I MYSELF am playing the gold chests like slot machines. its good fun. More fun than choosing what to buy. GIVE GAIJIN THE CASH! Oh no, another pair of pants…oh well, lets keep spinning! lol. Love it

not gullible. Gaijin want to generate more money, and i like it. The gamble is good for me. Adds even more fun to the game.
