I think it is a mistake that the new event British Saboteur is a Chindit. The Chindits were more of a commando or guerilla unit, not spies. They mainly fought deep behind enemy lines disrupting Japanese supply lines in the Burma campaign
I think it is much more fitting that the British Saboteur be an actual spy that was meant to gather intelligence. I can’t believe I have to even say it, Special Operations Executive! SOE was Britain’s great espionage unit. They operated all over Europe and even in the Asian theater spying, organizing resistance movements, gathering intel, and sabotaging enemy resources.
The Chindits were not spies, they were not counter-intelligence units like SMERSH or the Abwehr. They were jungle fighting specialists, used for long range penetration missions.
Almost like their official name hints at their use...?
And they most certainly did not use perfidy within their arsenal when going on missions, and anyone claiming otherwise better bring up some serious proof to the contrary.
The British SOE makes way more sense, and I don’t understand why that’s not the units they chose. Personal recomendation, if we want to keep the Burma feel going;
My issue is that I don’t know what that weapon would be, that would be satisfying for a Chindit squad…
Rifle No. 5 “Jungle Carbine”…? Too common, should be in the tech tree. And, a forced bolt-action guerrilla squad might not be that appealing for people…
A Sten Mk V (S)…? Possibly post-war (unclear), and it’s not really a weapon which they used in any event…
A Sten Mk IV…? Whilst it’s a war-time prototype, it’s not really connected to them either.
If you ask me personally, I want the squad more for the history and prestige, then be able to equip it to my own tastes, but a whole event squad just for unique cosmetics isn’t realistic, either…
Maybe the weapon for such a event squad should really just be a Kukri…? That’d be fine, right…? A melee event weapon squad…?
