Change the deserter penalty

I can see why the following topics on this matter are getting nowhere. Just look how much this one was flooded with rubbish.

My point is simply this. There needs to be a harsher penalty, or the thing needs to be removed altogether. Not too harsh as to be oppressive, of course. But -20% exp isn’t cutting it. Well… maybe amongst the younger audience or those who can’t waste time. Idk.

Um, they need to implement the penalty better. I’ve been penalized four times so far, none of them for actually leaving a match early. All of them from disconnects on the server side.

Seriously.
If people are leaving because they only want to play certain maps, they can swallow a battery. They assume a loss and damn near guarantee it for everyone else. It’s really pathetic and I really don’t care what entitled bs reasoning they give.
The devs need to make it much harsher; make them unable to rejoin a new match, log repeated occurrences, and scale penalties accordingly. Disconnected? Rejoin.
Being worried about losing player-base is silly.
The only people we’s be losing is these jokers who make the game bad for everyone else. Them leaving would make this game 100x more enjoyable. The sad part is that they won’t actually leave, just complain that the devs don’t reward selfishness anymore. Boohoo.

Laugh - Jack Nicholson

just now we had a match on one of the Pacific Maps. Things ran fine for most of the match and suddenly there were connection issues, not only for me but for my squad mates as well, because we all lost connection → ending in the main menu. We all closed down the game immediately, hoping that a game restart would enable us to rejoin the battle → indeed the “rejoin” button came on, but what do you know → tried rejoining and immediately got “connection lost”

Funny that we all were hit with a deserter penalty for something we had zero control over. That was exactly why I had my doubts that this weird deserter system would work, as it would hit people who were in fact NOT deserting.

Why not ALWAYS give players the “rejoin” button, and if they hit “NO”, they are deserters, if they hit “YES” and can not get back in because of connection issues, then they are NOT deserters.

I feel you on that. I’ve had an issue with these sorts of things as well. There should certainly be a better system and a conversation over how it would look could be beneficial (if devs listened to the community - which is rare these days for any game). Surely there’s a good solution to not include genuine connection issues.

Also, the “Rejoin” is wonky AF. This needs to be improved.

My irritation [and what I believe was the OP’s focus] is on those who intentionally leave a match. The only thing worse when playing a game where players cannot be replaced, imo, are cheaters. I bet they drive like they are the only people on the road too (if they are even old enough, that is). It’s just reading the comments and seeing some complain about MM. The only valid criticism to making more stringent penalties here is connection issues.

I agree with you mate. The only time I intentionally left a battle was when one of our group accidentally had the “join any side” thing selected and we ended up on the Axis side, which we do not like to play. But other than that incident I just play on, no matter if the side looses or not (sure there are some match types I do not really like, but that is life).
Also some people seem to give up easily these days, but in Enlisted nothing is certain and even if things might look like a defeat for most of the match, it still could turn out to be a victory (the opposite is true as well).
