lol - haven’t used a shotgun for months now - even before the nerf I found them pretty marginal.
Back in CBT mortars could be aimed from the minimap, and infinitely reloaded from ammo crates (until you ran out of crates) and when Conquest was more prevalent you could fire them at any point from behind your spawn, safe as houses. They were OP and need a nerf badly.
Now, with limited ammo and limited resupply, and the overwhelming number of games being invasion or destruction (if you’re in tunisia) the mortar is basically useless. Any buff at all will make them broken hand-of-god weapons in conquest and certain destruction maps, but still basically useless everywhere else. Just spawn in, fire them off hoping for kills, and go fight.
And reload in a minute…they need to do something about plane spam. Make them fly further or make them land somewhere and rearm but the way it is now is just dumb.
I know you CAN do it, it’s just stupidly inconvinient. It’s not L2P issue, it’s a bad game design that complicates simple things whout a reason.
Like you can pump tires of your car by using hand bicycle pump, or you can use a compresor on the nearest gas station like normal human beeing. Why bother with the first option?
If you still don’t agree, please list the benefits of current “place marker, shoot marker” aiming procedure, that map firing doesn’t have.
It’s not complicated IMO.
i didn’t say it had advantages - I said that it is a means of doing so.
ETA: However there is one MASSIVE advantage hte current system has - you don’t have to open a map for every single time you want to shoot - shooting at cap point is easy and quick
I don´t believe it is L2P issue, the entire point is probably to make mortars less dependent on the team markings (unless you are shelling surroundings of spawn, which would qualify you as a filth).
However, that is already in the game. Sure, you can´t just point and click on the map, but you can open the map and create “yellow mark” which would measure distance to area you want to shell for you.
Of course, I agree that we should be able to order our other mortarman to fire on certain location that is marked/we mark. That would also give second mortarman actual role instead of serving just as “backup life.”
I don´t know about Tunisia, because I do not have mortars there, but I can assure you, that mortars are not useless in invasions. In fact, invasions are your best bet to get lot of easy mortar kills and greatly help your team (assuming you are at least trying to communicate and team responds with marks… which they sometimes do but tbh, it is still better to have a friend to be sure). Mortarmen are support classes, and as every support class in Enlisted, you can´t possibly think that you will be well rewarded every time.
Yes there is it´s called trimming the fat. If they removed mortar squads their absence would be barely noticed.
Might aswell use a radio squad, put a red circle on their backline so they can´t reinforce their position and clean the objective with the rest. 1 Assault might be enough depending on the faction.
It’s complicated more than it needs to be. This reason is enough to change it imo, and there are more.
So you don’t know how mortars in BF work.

Issue is that unlike mortarts radios can be used in many squads and people constantly block the artillery limit.
Yeah, it can get preatty bad in BF.
But in enlisted we have only one mortar squad per side + very limited ammo, while in BF everybody can have a mortar and it resuplies in sth like 45s.
Thats eactly how it should work. Damn, so many things got removed for no reason.
Now that´s putting it generous. You don´t have people putting radios in every single of their squads afterall.
Having a second mortarman in the squad is not very useful now (just 10 rounds more to shoot). It would be nice if you could order him to shoot at the target you designated in the map.
nothing wrong with planes also there is no plane is “spam” as only 2 planes can be on at the same time who cares anyway tanks are alot more useful than planes unless its the ones that can wipe out half the map with 1 bomb even then tanks are better.
Also no lets no make them fly further away or make them land that just uses more precious time that they could be supporting ground units that’s a terrible idea.
i hope they never do that in enlisted. if they do add the minimap thing so u kno where ur aiming they should make it take 2 or 3 troops to shoot to maintain a level of realism

I only mentioned tunisia because Destruction isn’t in the other campaigns, yet.
I guess mortars can be situationally useful if you’re the attacking team in invasion, if the team ever marks enemy positions so your not just forced to fire at generally well-sheltered objectives, and on defense the problem is worse.
