They needed it. The power of the Axis is now overrated. Even 2 adequate Allied players easily win the game without the rest of the team.
Experienced players simply went to Tunisia, where they can destroy the Axis without a chance. Thompson vs mp40 is ridiculous. Many were not prepared to learn how to hide jumbo vulnerabilities and figure out how to destroy a panther.
When the Allies in Normandy get new toys, players will actively return. Right now there are just a lot of newbies out there.
Either that. or 10 experience instead of 15 for helping to kill. These things are easy to fine tune by gradually changing.
I would also add more points for helping to kill tanks or planes.
Killing a plane is 275 experience, assisted killing is 25. LOL?
No experience for tank at all for assisted killing, which is a shame. 50 would have been nice.
After all, you get half (15 experience) for helping to kill a soldier
We needed something, but the Jumbo wasnât it. Adding the Jumbo was an overcorrection to a perceived imbalance, and adding the Panther was an overcorrection to the Jumbo.
Iâm on board for this. Keeps tanker rewards reasonable and better compensates the infantry when they do manage to blow something up.
About 10 more levels are waiting for us. We donât see the whole picture. The experience of my playmates as allies tells me that people are greatly overestimating what the Axis got right now.
Glad that a compromise can be obtained in an adequate conversation.
I mean, yeah, thereâs gonna be further development, my concern is for right now and the future. Right now, Panther is an OP beast with no reliable answer in most situations where we see them. Whatâs the next step? Iâm seeing 76mm and 17pounder armed shermans, but while both are a better match for the Panther, theyâre still gonna struggle with thick, angled armor at range, maintaining the problem. Alternatively, Axis gets tiger? Can of worms and all that.
In an ideal world, I think, weâd just be able to spawn more Shermans than Axis can Panthers, and numbers solve the problem, but I donât think it would be balanced at all.
In general, the tiger will be weak against the jumbo. It wonât pierce it under the turret, where a panther can sometimes do so. (To be honest there arenât many places now where a panther can pierce a jumbo at a distance. Itâs the machine gun and under the turret. The second one is triggered extremely randomly and erratically. Itâs not âreliable penetrationâ) The Tiger on the other hand has 165mm of penetration and wonât penetrate a jumbo under the turret (except at point-blank range).
So it would be about as good as a pz4 with better armor. If itâs up against a Sherman with a long gun, theyâll both hit each other pretty well, I donât see a problem. Only the Stewarts will have problems, but the Puma is just as bad at punching through jumbos. Iâd rather just separate the completely newbies as the overall campaign level grows.
The 17 pounder did have APDS that was developed to go through the frontal Glacis of panther and was actually used in Normandy. Though the reason why I think the devs put jumbo in is solely because of the d-day map
