Instead of bullets deviating from target, make sights move.
(Verdun)
(Post Scriptum)
Not the best gifs but I hope you get the idea.
It makes more sense (as most guns are more accurate than their shooters, especially mass conscripted ones). It will allow to make some more skilled shots instead of being fully RNG based.
Now sights of most weapons are basically stationarry like they were on a tripod.
It will also give more meaning to bracing for longer range shots (as bracing will reduce sway massively) and maybe followed by similar features in the future (like gun inertia).
[Edit]
I forgot to add that holding your breath also reduces sway so to some degree you will be able to get rid of it completely even withouth bracing. (And maybe it will gain a meaning outside of being an extra zoom.)
As a former military type(Infantry) I’m okay with the current formula. It’s not perfect but it just feels right.
It’s different from almost anything I’ve experienced in recent memory and that’s a good thing.
The only changes needed are nerfing the bunny hopping dog shit into oblivion. Heavy weapon sway 3 seconds after each hop and drain all stamina if you hop more than once per 10 seconds. Low stamina = no jumping.
See, the thing I always find funny with bunny hoppers is that it honestly doesn’t make them much harder to hit, and it does make them way more obvious. I love watching someone try to hop to evade three mgs from my T-28, or getting murdered when I just line up a shot at the point they’re inevitably going to land at with a BA.
Immersion wise I can see it as a problem, but balance wise it seems largely unimportant. It just doesn’t actually give that much benefit, and I think most people who do it a lot do it out of habits carried over from other FPSs.
not really mate as i said I’ve played first person shooters where weapon sway was implemented as it was horrible.
So no its not “I don’t like how it looks” its a “i know what its like” argument
Current system doesn’t need to be changed for a weapon sway system its pointless when there current one is already good. Perhaps if they unfucked the dispersion of some of the weapons in enlisted there would not be any need to change how the weapon mechanics work altogether.
Id also prefer a different mechanic. The weapons are much more accurate than represented in game. I’ve always liked a soldiers level to represent how much or how little accuracy a weapon would have. Almost all infantry rifles are 4 MOA (minute of angle) or better but the real factor is can the shooter actually shoot 4 MOA? Level 1 soldiers would be much less accurate. A 5 star veteran soldier would be much more trained and seasoned so also more accurate
Can you name a few (you may do it via priv if you wish)? I’d like to see them, maybe I’ve played them.
It will make it easier for me to get your point.
One could also make the argument that the level of randomness in the performance of weapons in this game is actually too unrealistically low in some conditions. The Breda machine gun was terrible in part because the sand in North Africa ruined it, its built in oiler attracting sand and the opening in its magazine combined with its fixed nature making it very hard to not have grime accumulate inside and cause feed issues for the gun. And yet, in enlisted, the gun always cycles through mag after mag as if it were in a clean room.
I don’t think having dispersion is a problem, as it helps balance out the guns in the game, and can be seen largely as an abstraction due to the very short engagement ranges that are guaranteed on 90% of the maps. Sure, most engagements happened in sub 300 meters irl, but in enlisted its pretty rare for much fighting to happen past 50
I only have to name one which is heroes and generals that is one of the ones that has stuck in my mind there may of been a few others but alas I do not remember. I always remember how some of the weapons just had too much sway felt really janky as fuck.
I played that game for like a decade I still hated the weapon sway system on certain weapons that had way too much.
Weapon sway vs how the current dispersion works in enlisted currently id take the dispersion any day of the week hence why i love playing it. The weapon mechanics in enlisted just feel right even if some of the weapons do have a bit too much dispersion however its something that would easily be fixable.
I mean, weapon sway is already in the game. Its how the headshake effect works, as far as I understand it. Your sights wobble and your shots don’t end up landing center of screen.
