Capturing bases in battles

I’m already quite concerned in battles for the Germans where two bases are to be occupied together. Can I know if the developer even tested if this is playable ?? Every battle to capture these two bases, especially Stalingrad, is always a loss. Actually the battles are already decided at the beginning and you know the result. I really don’t know what to do anymore.

it’s called assault ( the gamemode )

and yes.

it’s winnable as long attackers deny and clear out from the rear defenders while destroying their rally.

but, due to many players being inexperienced, it can be challenging and quite out right impossible if your teammates just rushes the point in a straight line and do nothing else. ( and yes, that happens quite too much )

Well, can I do anything about it myself ?? Or am I left to find group partners and play in a group ?? Alternatively, I guess I have to be resigned to losing.

you can attempt to reach and organize with your team through text chat.

or;

Problem with this game mode is that you need not only 1 good rally/half track, but 2. And asking german teams to provide that is pretty diificult, if not outright impossible. The other problem is in stalingrad some points are terrible and defenders have giant highrises to sit in and rape everything from, or you have to cross some insane killing field like wide open train tracks, and then people build AWFUL rallies in the middle of said killing fields instead of on the flanks in cover. People spawn on those and just get farmed. Sometimes bad rallies can be worse than no rallies.

Also theres just no communication in this game, not having voice chat really doesn’t help. And even if you got proper spawn network setup sometimes the team overcommits to a single objective.

It is a very unfair scenario, perhaps if the defenders were limited in reinforcements it would be more balanced.

This might sound confusing and a bit micro intensive, but I get around it solo by individually sending half my men to say point B while i finish capturing A.

Then I do a squad command on Point A so the remaining men stay there and hold while I switch to a soldier to capture B.

Then swap back and forth to fight on both points. Doesnt always work flawlessly, but better than trying to run between the two points

Due to them wanting to return after XX amount of distance from you?

Well actually, There is no distance limit ONLY if you order them onto the objective icon directly. It is the only case where you can be further than the leash that brings them back.

The 2 biggest cons that you need to stay on top of is:

  • knowing where your squad command vs where your individual orders are for your soldiers. Otherwise, if you lose track, you are just going to have people running all over the map.

  • the soldiers will congregate together at the center of the objective you order them at so they can die kinda easily to AOE

Overall tho, I think the pros of being able to contest and capture multiple objectives is pretty big.

As has already been answered, this sounds a lot like you are describing the “Assault” game. Yes, the game mode is certainly playable. It’s pretty fun.

It seems like you’re getting teamed up with squads who aren’t working together. I usually play solo, too. But if you are, you’ve got to be with at least a couple team mates that take it seriously because coordination makes it a lot easier.

No, it just seems like you aren’t familiar with the game mode and are playing against experienced opponents. That is certainly frustrating when it happens. Normandy was absolutely FLOODED with BR5 Germans right after the Campaigns merged and we would routinely find Allies with mostly BR3 equipment facing Germans with mostly BR5 equipment. That has settled down a bit lately.

My advice to you would be to pay careful attention to where the capture points are in the Assault mode for a map. Then when you get an Invasion mode on that same map, move across the map in a way that lets you recon the approaches to these captures. You will probably discover there is a saddle or a ridge that you can use to approach a flank undetected then attack from that angle.

This is weird. We’ve been hearing for the past two months that the reason the Germans had been cleaning up everything was due to their players’ “superior tactics” and that it had nothing to do with the fact that they all had late war assault rifles in matches against BR3s.

Did not know that.

I’ve still never figured out how to issue individual orders on XBox.

The MOST FUN I’ve ever had in this game was an Assault round in Gavutu where my pilot had to bail out and work his way up to the front. There was heavy concentration around one cap so I worked my way to the other, which happened to be on a pier. So I swam as quietly as I could, making sure to be completely under water when I moved and being hidden by something when I had to surface for air to avoid being spotted by Japaness snipers. I worked my way to the pier behind the few defenders. As my team began taking the “main” point, I opened up on the Jap squad and took then completely by surprise. Pop,pop, pop and I was on the cap. Simultaneous capture with an amphibious Commando Raid and then on to the rest.

I think it’s similar to conquest. When you have multiple objectives active and bunch of random players with little to no communication and coordination. It’s often just pure chaos.
Invasion is simple - you just have one objective active and everybody focus there.

Assault is imho easier for defenders because attacker needs to really coordinate attack and keep both zones captured at the same time and defender can recapture it. Demolition is similar with multiple objectives but it favours attacker as they can take objective one by one but defender needs fragemnt forces to pay attention to both/all sites and stopping the bomb is not that easy especially as you cannot fight while doing so.

Few know about the objective order disabling the AI distance tether. It changes everything when you need bodies on the point but meed to build a rally too

Well
when i ve played a new map, not knowing how the map plays, myself am guilty of a few massacre’s, of my team mates, and butchering of my paras :stuck_out_tongue:

But most of mine, are accident, i will lay one , then i would move to lay next one, if i don’t get to lay the next one, well people spawn and die, maybe if i could turn it off, till it was safer
and its same for truck, driving around Normandy all of a sudden bang dead, by tank, and people spawn of truck, ouch
Sorry to any whom died by my hands :sob:

Im not sure how you could set it up but here are my controls and where you can find to do that

It might be the times I play (late night), chinese on NA servers only play as americans for some reason, and the amount of sweat they pour out every game can fill an olympic size swimming pool. Sometimes I’ll get some help from the koreans that play axis but very rarely.
