Kroll Opera is a great map because most capture zones are located out in the open while on Moscow and Normandy most capture zones are located inside houses, trenches and bunkers
This leads to meaningless meatgrinders by both sides. Berlin maps are absolutely great and I think other two campaigns should be similar
Maybe a compromise?
So cap points would be buildings + wide area around them. Kind of like the A point with a windmill on conquest in the normandy (I don’t remember the maps name).
Yeah, some points on Moscow are literally a single small house. People just hug walls on both sides which artillery area circle is bigger than capture point.
But despite having areas around the house, campers tend to sit inside the house, preventing you from capturing. Same problem is seen on Moscow invasion
There is a mod called Darkest Hour for Red Orchestra, imho there it was done in a very good way. Capture zones are very large compare to Enlisted and you need a significant domination to take the zone. An example would be something like Normandy Chateau (point B) expanded zone to cover whole building and some parts of garden, instead of a single large room inside.
This means that team of MG that cuts reinforcement of the enemy on the flank, is still in the capture zone and you can’t bombard whole point or completely cover it with a single MG.
I would say “throw a grenade” but most of buildings in moscow have no windows or only small slits.
Anyway I don’t like idea of fighting over open ground. It would become a sniper fest.
Don’t get me wrong, 25m^2 cap zone inside of a building is also bad.
Not every usage of a grenade is a meatgrinder.
Deffenders can go outside of the building and have a lot of room to escape the grenades while still being on the point.
Like they should. That’s the proper way of using grenades.
Well, I would say flank the MGs and destroy them but I know that 99% of the players aren’t capable of a such complicated maneuver.
I don’t agree. Everytime I tried to get to the point I got killed by the guy sniping from afar.
Maybe make it like this (more or less):
Or eventually place the building right after the objective. As kind of “enemy is too close, position lost, retreat” thing.
