One of them is for luftwaffe i think.
both hats are M43s hats.
and essentially are same thing. it only differes the lenght of the actual brim cap.
while the second is used as a foldable wool hat ( Einheitsfeldmütze ) with the ears down.
which was unfolded during storms or very cold weather.
essentially, the cover ears.
think of it as the soviet Ushankas.
in summer, were up, and in winter ( at least, during pre war ) were flipped down.
not entirely.
it wasn’t exclusive to luftwaffe troops.
