The lewis may be a higher level MG due to the magazine size like the Russians DP
Haven’t had a problem using the Breda personally
Try its counterpart in Tunis, it’s in another level of trashiness. Also for Normandy, Axis will get much better LMGs or rifles later.
Personally I still use two five star Breda mod 30 in normandy and I am lvl 32!
Do I prefer the MG 34 and 42? Sure!
But if you got used to it, it is not to bad, usually I snipe with it (bipod deployed) short bursts and reliably kill enemies in the distance. Sometimes I also use it as an SMG to storm caps, it is not that bad!

You indeed listed the reasons why most are satisfied with the MG34.
Yet MG42 has got a better iron sight IMO.
Yes but in the game they are really nicelly made. In comparison to BFV and H&G it’s gold.
