So, today I want to talk about the premium StuG A and it’s ammo configuration.
At first glance, you might have not noticed what’s the issue here because 44 shells should be enough, right?
Well let’s take a look at this
So out of all 44 shells, 19x APCBC, only 18x HEAT and whooping 7x Smoke shells.
This is very underwhelming ammo configuration considering that StuG A doesn’t have particularily good armor nor mobility. In fact, being casemate vehicle without turret AND lack of any coaxial MG only gives a disadvantage for ones using this vehicle when compared to something like Panzer 4 F1 at the same battle rating.
So my suggestion is this. Reduce the amount of smoke shells to 3 and change all 19x APCBC shells into HEAT so that it can have total 41x HEAT and 3x Smoke which at least make StuG A will be more fitting at being a casemated vehicle excels at killing tanks etc.
I think the best ammo configuration for the Stug III A would be 21 Hl.Gr 38C HEAT (the upgraded HEAT shells), 21 HE shells, and then 2 smoke shells. Having the upgraded HEAT would allow it to actually face BR3 vehicles to make up for the fact that’s it’s a casemate with no machine guns.
IMO StuG A should get Hl.Gr 38C HEAT shells which are slightly better than Hl.Gr 38B Panzer IV F1 and E gets, that way there would be some incentive to use it.
Casemated TD or Open-topped TD with no MG like these do usually get a better gun than their usual TT tanks on the same BR, but i’m not sure about StuG A getting C variant of it’s HEAT as well, mainly because i don’t think ammo configuration AND also giving it it’s Hl.Gr 38C is something that Darkflow would do since that’s too many radical change in a one go.
I do agree with changing it’s ammo configuration into HE + HEAT with HEAT being upgraded into Hl.Gr 38C by the way. It’s just that i’m bit skeptical on StuG A getting all that buff on a one go.
