The plane is unlocked at rank 12 for america, and it is actually, completely dogshit with no upsides compared to the P-38 you get at rank 4, which isn’t that great as CAS but it’s usable.

First off, in this game the P-51C-10 gets TWO M2 browning machine guns with 280 ammo, which is horribly incorrect as this plane carried 4 M2 browning machine guns and carried about ~300 rounds per gun.

Second, the bombs are just…bad, there’s nothing to talk about here, they’re just bad. You can get kills with them, I’ve killed tanks with them, but you need to be extremely accurate and hope that tank doesn’t intend to move for a couple seconds. But overall, just bad, give it 2x 250 lb AN-M57 and it’s missing guns and ammo.

All in all, the Rank 12 plane is a complete downgrade to the rank 4 plane. What’s the point of grinding if the things I’m grinding for are complete downgrades to what I already have? As some people on this forum like to say, we play only for the grind.

The P-51C in game is straight trash.

The only reason I play it is to level up the Fighter Pilot II and as a “F You” to my own team when they wont do anything worth while.

“Oh, no one else is dropping rally points or going in the objectives? Time to bust out the P-51C.”

P-38 is not attacker, even in game it is “Fighter Squad”. First attacker squad for American is A-20, second one is P-47.

It does get its 4 guns - but in the game window it doesn’t show them properly - same with other planes - it just shows 1 gun and how many rounds per gun. But youwill see 4 lines of tracer.

The outer guns have 280 rounds, the inner guns have 350 each.

But yes - it is a waste of space - and they sucker money out of people for the premium one as well, which makes it worse :frowning:

The P38 now uses the attacker slot. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but it’s no longer counted as a fighter.

It should be more classified as an attacker slot in this Normandy campaign (even though it is a fighter.) It was being phased out in the 8th, was doing missions for the 9th and ground attack.

Over the D-Day beaches it did both Interceptor missions over the ships and ground attack with ordinance. Since, we have rockets… (should have bombs) it should be classified as an attacker spawn.

I’d agree with you if it had bombs. Honestly the P51 should be the first air unlock and the P38 with a pair of 250lbs bombs should be the first attacker. But with the rockets it currently has, it’s HARDLY an attacker. The m8 rockets are terrible.

I thought the m8’s were terrible too… Until I unlocked the P-51C with its 100lb bombs. Then I couldn’t wait to get back to the 38’s rockets…

Although, for Ground attack the P-47 loadout is glorious compared to those two.

The 38 should have 2 - 500lbers for ground attack or at least 1 and a drop tank (if balance is a concern.)

You could give the 38 a 10 pack of HVARs too and no bombs. The 100lbs suck yeah, idk how but a buddy makes them worm

They’re usable, you can reliably get kills with them, or at least I can, but at the end of the day, the P51 is a complete downgrade to the P-38, which already isn’t great in terms of CAS.

And the P-38 is better at shooting planes down than the P-51 is.

I totally agree about P51-C is bad.

B109 G10 and Fw 190 A-8 are both extremely trash too.

They also got a big issue about ammo incontinence. when shooting starts never stop.
