ye, do it
i hate that gun
M1919A4 should be buffed as well ofc. The reason i did not make post about that however is that there’s already post about decreasing the BR of M1919A4 in the forum.
The sprint factor and dispersion buff could be a starting point to make the gun better. The devs can also tweak the physical and visual recoil as well, since it is a heavier gun it is plausible that there would be less recoil. Another thing they could do (if it isn’t already) is give the bren its best possible rof. I’m not sure of the specifics of this gun in particular, but I have seen examples of different guns suggested in the forums where official documents state the rof as a range instead of a hard number. For example it may be stated as having a firerate of 500-600 rpm. (These are not real numbers from documents, just an example).
It is a heavier gun than the 30 rnds version. And the 30 rnds version is already at 50% sprint factor. I’m assuming that we wouldn’t give it actually a better sprint factor than the original 30 rnds version, right? Much heavier gun after all. then it’d be 50% from 40%. Yea that wouldn’t be nowhere near enough. Would it helps? Sure. Would that make it not utter garbage on BR 4? definitely not. We are talking about BR 4 weapon, not BR 3 or 2 weapon here.
Yes this can be done. But there are certain limits that how much they could reduce the recoil on this gun realistically speaking. Because BR 2 bren gun 1 exists. It is unlikely to have a drastic recoil reduction(Which this gun desparately needs it for sure) even if we are going to have the recoil buff. Unless of course, they decided to buff the BR 2 Bren gun 1 as well. Which i’m all for it because i don’t think i’ve seen people using it for BR 2 nowadays unless they are grinding TT for higher BR. It is pretty mediocre gun honestly compared to other BR 2 LMGs available now.
The cyclic rate of fire for the Bren Gun Mark 1 is approximately 500 to 520 rounds per minute which means, the bren gun we have in the game already shoots faster than it supposed to be. Altho in fairness, there are some guns shooting faster than their supposed rate of fire when fully upgraded so this is plausible, i guess? it would still be way below 600 RoF tho. It’d be somewhere around 560 RoF i think.
So, in summary, bit better sprint factor(40-> 50%), lower recoil, a bit better RoF, a little bit of dispersion buff on top of that. That’s it right? I think that’s nowhere near enough to make this gun not utter garbage on BR 4. It would helps, sure. But only marginally and the outcome would still be the same. My take on these kind LMG is that, they are not competitive even against the other guns on the same LMG class at the same BR at all. Then imagine how would they performs against all those SF/Assault rifles on BR 5. M1919A6, Maxim-tokarev etc all performs extremely poorly on BR 5 and there’s no reason to not decrease their BR at all other than the sentimental “No 100 rnds on my BR 3” argument.
Also one more point i want to add here is that Beltfed DP with 100 rnds(Still same reload speed as DP-27 btw), has BR increased by 1 from DP-27.
So why the BR 2 increase treatment for Bren gun l 100 then? As if Bren gun l was BR 3 gun? Because of the 100 rnds mag alone? I think that’s rather illogical.
I tested this 100‑drum Bren in the practice range and the experience was terrible.
I think it has to be moved down to BR3 to become usable. At BR4 it gets overwhelmed by BR5 equipment, and even among BR4 weapons it sits near the bottom. Fundamentally it is a BR2 gun with a 100‑round drum. The ceiling for a BR2 weapon is BR3. Its fire rate is far too low. Trying it in-game was a real shock.
With such a slow rate of fire, the new Lewis machine gun seems to outperform it completely.
Just wanted to throw some ideas out to try balancing the bren where its at, without starting an arms race. Like you said, those changes may not be enough and if thats true i wouldn’t mind it being br3. Trying to be fair to all factions. It may even end up like the kv1 where its not good enough for br4 but to good for br3. And I’m sure you’re well aware that once a single 100 rnd mag hits br3 it opens a flood gate to others being suggested.
I get what you are trying to say here but the guns are different. Vehicles are much more complicated and you also have to factor in that what fights what vehicles, just so happen that German/Japan vehicles on BR 2-3 are made of paper armor so that’s why KV-1, despite having a gun with low penetration and bit lengthy reload speed could performs like that. Guns are much more straight forward. If it looks terrible on the statcard then 99.99% times it is a terrible gun. Unless it gets some kind of fantasy RoF increase to around 800 and having only light LMG penalties like BAR then this gun will just continue to be terrible at BR 4.
Why would that be a problem? If that supposedly suggested new 100 rnds gun is as much terrible as Bren I 100 then i’d agree that that gun should be also on BR 3. Otherwise, if it has a good stats then BR 4 or BR 5. Simple as that.
Like I was getting at, if there is truly nothing that can be done to the bren to stay br4 I would welcome it to br3.
