Planes are way to OP, the amount of times im capping a point and boom entire squad is dead due to a bomb, but thats OK if you want them to be like that, but you need to balance that with reasonable AA, and at present AA is utterly pointless, thats why next to no one builds it, only nubs who think its going to actually kill a plane, then they realise its way to slow at tracking, cant see planes till last minute, have only a handfull of shots and basically die with one hit from a decent pilot who will flank and destroy every time. Even if an AA gun was so good that a decent gunner could shoot down any plane reasonably easy, it still requires a player to sit in there all game and basically deny the enemy air supremacy.

If AAA would have a faster traverse or large amount of ammunition, it would be absolutely deadly. Currently, just as any other weapon/vehicle in game, it needs a bit or skill to use effectively.
You have to shoot it small bursts and just anticipate from which direction plane is coming. An engineer squad can build 2 AAA back to each other so you don’t even have to turn 180 degrees, just hop from one into another if you missed plane on approach.
I wouldn’t jump to conclusions that AA ineffectiveness is why nobody builds them.
Nobody builds Spawn Beacons either, and those are game winners.

I don’t build aa guns because I simply don’t have them as engineer. Lol I m as many more players choosing other squads over engineer one simply because we can have a spawn point builder on pretty Much every squad.

AA guns are deadly. But could use a small transverse speed buff.
Just yesterday I killed a plane using the coupula MG on my panther and felt way more effective than building and using a aa gun
I think the key difference is that when you build an AA gun to use as AA, you’re sitting around waiting for the plane to make its next pass, so it’s a gamble whether you waste tons of time or not.
Sometimes while playing defensively, I’ve been able to set a gun up next to the point and leave it, so I can run over and hop on it as soon as I hear a plane coming, but it’s not usually practical to do.
thats actually a good plan. build it first, use if necessary.
With engineer level 2, you can place and AT gun and an MG nearby and run to AAA when you hear planes.
I would prefer mobile anti-aircraft guns to be added. Planes are too op
Those would just be used against infantry more than anything else.
The reason keeping an AA gun on standby isn’t always viable is because you’ll get shot by infantry while running to it. And MG nests aren’t that good anyway, I would rather bring them back to Engineer 1 and give engineer 2 an HMG on an AA mount so they can multitask.
Agree regarding MG. It’s so less functional compared to mg34, the only benefit is infinite ammo but it takes less time to put a wall and some ammo boxes compared to building a single mg nest.

Started Normandy and AAA feels way worse. On Moscow I was able to reliably hit planes at least ones per approach. Here it’s somehow different, maybe planes are “thicker” or on average flying faster but either way it felt like a complete waste of time.
When you build AA you should be able to assign a bot to control it and detach from the squad. Buff the AA and make those bots focus on planes.
You can assign bots already but they won’t do anything.
