British Jeep/Rider Class

The new Willys Jeep is good but limited to Yanks.

Players should have the option of British/Commonwealth as well, because currently anyone currently wishing to use vehicles are forced to miss out on a full British/Commonwealth lineup.

(The ability to swap national uniforms would be helpful, but devs won’t do that and its a good opportunity for a Commonwealth specific vehicle)

I would like to see a new TT free to play squad of a British jeep or other vehicle armed with a
Vickers machine gun.^

The vehicle does not have to be a jeep.

^.303, as used in All Loud on the Western Front event. Not to be confused with the Vickers K machine gun.)

I say the Vickers because it’s a famous machine gun used in WWII especially on vehicles and by my Australian countrymen (even in the jungle).

It allows a proper machine gun on par with the DsHK, MG34 and M1919 rather than the usual Bren gun.
Bren guns are an option but there’s enough top mounted magazine guns in game already for the Allies (top mounted mags suck).
The Vickers has rear handle triggers and a central sight, like the DsHK as stated so makes sense for a mounted MG in game.

Similarly I would propose an additional squad for Axis for Italy [open to suggestions for specific Italian vehicle and mounted MG) as an alternative to only German Kubelwagen.

For example here is an airborne jeep armed with Vickers gun. I believe this is a Bantam or other model, different to the regular Willys Jeep. [don’t be confused by the Sten gun sitting on the bonnet]

This is a Morris CS8 with twin Bren guns.
Some might consider this an APC, I’d disagree because its unarmoured and more of a 4WD than truck or halftrack.

Here’s a British Sudanese Defence force vehicle from 1930. Apparently it had a dust cover for the barrel shroud or something [the scoop]

God save the King!

Fully agreed.

Also, lets not leave out the amazing treassure horde of Rider-style vehicles that could be added alone for the Universal Carrier - the most produced armoured vehicle in history!

  • X2 Brens Mk I/II (persumably tech tree)
  • X1 Bren Mk I/II and X1 Mk I Bren 100
  • X1 Bren Mk I/II and X1 Lewis
  • X1 Bren Mk I/II and X1 Vickers mk I
  • X1 Bren Mk I/II and X1 Vickers G.O. No. 2 Mk I

All without delving into weapon combinations using lend-lease US weaponry!

And lets not forget about the meme potential of a Wasp!

(The Canadian version also had space for mounting a additional Bren gun in the back)

Yes the dodge WC54 I think it was would be great in game. I didnt mention here cause I thought it tended to be more an American vehicle.

@OggeKing absolutely, we’ve both been asking for Universal Carriers to be added to tech tree.
I didnt here because I was worried some would argue the UC is an “APC” cause its got a tiny bit of armour (relative to jeeps, kubelwagens etc.).

Ive suggested BR II unarmed UC (as alternative to Studebaker) OR BR III armed UC (with American M3 Halftrack added to tech tree as well).

Either Canadian or Australian version, as you’d know the Aussie one had a single fixed Vickers gun.

Two Bren guns would be okay, interesting whether the playerbase would consider that OP compared to other vehicles in game.

Wasp would be a good premium/event.

@КвасноеСусло Agreed, I assumed SAS jeeps with Vickers K would be a premium/event squad.

At first I thought those jeeps were only used in the desert but during research found they were used in Europe such as France in 1944 in regular green rather than khaki/desert camo.

Id be happy if a tech tree SAS squad were used but would consider it unlikely.

The Chevrolet LRDG trucks would be a good premium/event APC too. (which had various combinations of machine guns)

Well, with the upcoming addition of the AS 42, a five-man armoured (last time I checked) and heavily armed “Driver” vehicle, the door is fully opened for this kind of thing.

It even has a 20mm AA gun, and is still BR II.

My original instinct was that vehicles like the UC (including M3 Scout Cars and other armoured utility vehicles) would be BR III - but the AS 42 has set the president that they now share the same BR as the unarmoured vehicles.

Plus, any weapon combination suggested above will be weaker than the x2 MGs and x1 20mm AA guns of the AS 42, anyway.
