British counterpart to the AS 42 (Morris C9 B)

A default willys with a .50 cal is kinda lame reward in comparison to the extremely unique and fun AS 42 that germany got in this ongoing event. I suggest that the devs add Morris C9 B in a future event to give allies their driver class SPAAG

Morris C9 B was a relatively common vehicle that was produced between late 1943 to 1945 with over 1600 units built during the war. The vehicle is a heavily modified Morris C8 with a 40mm bofors as it’s main armament. The bofors is significantly more powerful than the 20mm breda in the as 42 but the larger caliber would be compensated with a low capacity 4 round clip, low firerate and no extra machineguns. Morris C9 B would typically have a 4 man crew.

I consider the British equivelant of the AS 42 to be the Universal Carrier.

Was what I was about to post, when I noticed that it’s not armoured in game… what’s the deal with that, I tought it was based on the AB 41, and itself armoured - what’s the deal…?

Wouldn’t this qualify as an anti-aircraft gun?

ughhh

the Metropolitana AS-42 Has a Breda 20/65 Mod which it’s a 20mm, not a 40.

not really sure how you can compare the two.

to be honest, there are no equivalent to it.

and imo, i don’t like that event vehicles are not armored infantry vehicles smh.

i would like to see for the british a much more unique:

… and the AS 42 one isn’t?

A 4 round clip with a 0,5 sec reload (0,4 is the perk is allowed) doesnt really look like a downside to me but an inconveniance at most. So if the 40mm will be even more juiced up as the 30mm from the kugel I highly doubt that it will be “just on par” with the shitty italian 20mm.

Edit: also the 40mm can get some disgusting AP rounds in WT aswell so it would low key be even eating tanks for breakfast aswell depending on what kind of AP/APHE round they give it.

I didn’t explain myself well. I meant that this would be an anti-aircraft vehicle and not a combat reconnaissance vehicle.

One I thought of was the Doge Pow Wagon with a 37mm AT gun. If AA isn’t your thing then this might be an alternative.

Pure AP and in BR3, sure.

Nah HE shell and AP and Br III

in fact, a mixed Clip would be very fair.

I’m not against adding this vehicle but as a vehicle that’s capable of rapidly firing 40mm HE/AP, this is more like BR 2 AA tank that should be added in a tanker squad instead of being an off-road vehicle.

I agree, the driver class should focus on recon vehicles and APCs. A dedicated anti-air like the Morris C9/B doesn’t fit the class, and besides, you’re not going to get very far without getting spotted.

I think a better match would be, as mentioned earlier, a Marmon-Herrington, such as this one that actually has an Italian 20 mm.

Or the Humber Armoured Car with a 15 mm Besa.
Humber Armoured Car Mk II

Or the M20 Armored Utility Vehicle with a .50 cal.

In all honesty, the .50 cal is nothing to scoff at. In the recent “better place” patch, the event Jeep was updated to use pure APIT belts and it absolutely melts light tanks and sandbags, to the point that I am starting to think it might even be the more powerful vehicle of the two.

That being said, I always appreciate learning about new vehicles. I haven’t heard of the Morris as a Bofors platform before, but I am aware that it was on CMP trucks. Some CMP trucks also had quad Polstens.

Should be SPAA like russky 25mm milk truck

He’s very good, but bofors is still better)

Even the axis used the bofors it was that good.

The Germans and the Japanese used Bofors.

.50 cal Greyhound would be a good Rank III off-roader vehicle.

Yes, they did it, they did it.)
